Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorene Chesley.
Lorene, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was inspired to do the show after one of my really good girlfriends and prayer partners said she would watch me talk or host anything anytime! She really thought I had a gift of connecting with people. She told this to me at least 3 times within 6 months and finally I said “You know what I’m gonna go for it!” I put together a preliminary draft of what I loved to do in LA, and it boiled down to unique shopping experiences, amazing food, and my fervent faith. Thus Looks, Lunch, Love with Lorene was born! I travel all over LA for great food, unique markets and I specifically feature female entrepreneurs. I film in my condo (in West Hollywood), and then branch off on location for specials. It has been such a great ride and I’ll be shooting Season 4 in the Spring of 2018, after I release my faith book.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Yes! There absolutely were challenges. I had never filmed my own talk show before. I got a small crew, whom I worked with a lot on short films, and specs. It really was a trial and error in terms of how I wanted to set certain segments up, and what looked and felt organic. When I released it on YouTube I realized the full episodes were way too long in the first season, so I decided to break them up each week instead with the following seasons. I.e.: A Look segment one week, Lunch segment the next, etc. People were viewing but not subscribing so I hired a social media manager and we did giveaways and challenges, to help. It’s still a process, but I’m learning so much and I love being in control of my creation!
Looks, Lunch, Love with Lorene – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Looks, Lunch, Love is a fun, fab, online talk show that discusses lifestyle, food, and spirituality focused topics. I’m known for connecting people and sharing my positivity in the three aforementioned areas. I venture all over LA to find the most quaint business that have amazing woman power, or artists whose stories need to be heard. I’m most proud of the women I feature on the show! I have had incredible guests who take time out to talk to me about their specific journey with either their jewelry company or theatre company, their take on spirituality, or show they have created. I have an unrelenting JOY in my work and I think that radiates to my viewers!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is following my Purpose and Destiny that God gave me. When He pricks me, I move. If I listen carefully and then go after that goal vigorously then I have achieved it.
