Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena Sanchez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lorena. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love for makeup and all things beauty started at a young age. Playing with makeup has always been one of my favorite things to do. In 2001, I decided to pursue a career in makeup and attended the Joe Blasco School.
Shortly after obtaining my certificate from Joe Blasco School I applied at MAC. I was ecstatic when MAC offered me a full time position. MAC provided many benefits such as: learning from talented makeup artists, gaining valuable experience, working on a variety of clients. While working at MAC I taught the Spanish classes they held which sparked my love for teaching.
In 2015, I decided to apply to My Beauty Mark Makeup Academy I knew I would be working less hours so that means I would be home more with my kids BUT at the same time, I would still be doing what I love. I’ve been there ever since. My passion is Teaching helping others is very rewarding.
Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest challenge has been myself I am my worst critic. I always finish a look telling myself what I need to work on. I sometimes think it’s a good thing but at times I think it’s not because I always will be very hard on myself! I will stare at my work until I find so many things that I could of done differently… I don’t believe in competition I focus on what I need to work on not what others are doing. I feel that we should all encourage one another there is room to grow for everyone I get inspired by so many artists!
My message to New Artist is Believe in yourself! I BELIEVE IN YOU! You can create any look you want all it takes is PRACTICE ,PRACTICE PRACTICE! If you struggle with winged liner then don’t avoid it! Just practice until you have it down! Something that I always tell my students is WE never stop learning! We are students for life! There will always be new trends and new techniques so we have to keep learning constantly. The moment we think we know it all that’s when we will stop learning.
If you have an Instagram page for your makeup looks stay active and keep posting! Dont pay attention to the likes! Put your work out there! And don’t forget to use hashtags. Last thing ALWAYS ALWAYS be yourself and work hard never doubt yourself!
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?

One of my favorite things to do is work on brides. I love soft and sultry looks.
I am most proud of being able to help my students. It’s a great feeling seeing them progress and gain confidence. I love watching them grow in their skill.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of my favorite makeup brands. I am beyond grateful for those experiences. One brand in particular I am very appreciative of, House of Lashes. They have always been so supportive. I will never forget the day they started following me. I had just started my makeup page. I was at about 1,000 followers. I could not believe they followed me. I recently had the opportunity to work with them on a special project. It was so much fun!!
