Meet Long Beach Wardrobe Stylist: Alannah Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alannah Jones.

Alannah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always wanted to work in fashion. I was really interested in fashion PR and fashion styling. I interviewed for internships with several PR agencies and fashion stylists and I was rejected by everyone. So I decided to pay a photographer to help me start my styling portfolio. After that, I started a Model Mayhem portfolio and I was able to build my portfolio.

Has it been a smooth road?
In the begging, my main struggle was networking.I am a really shy person and at the time I feared rejection. This held me back for awhile.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think we will continue to see growth e-commerce and fast fashion in the next 5 to 10 years. I also think social media influencers will have a more presences in the fashion industry. I see the Los Angeles fashion industry becoming more high fashion, especially in terms of LA Fashion Week.

Has there been a particular challenge that you’ve faced over the years?
My biggest challenge has been overcoming my shyness.I’m a very shy person and my natural instinct is to observe everything and keep my input to myself. But now I realize that my input is just as important and helpful when I am on set or planning a shoot.

What advice do you wish to give to those thinking about pursuing a path similar to yours?
My advice for anyone starting out as a fashion stylist is to network like crazy. It is so important to have contacts in this industry. Also don’t be afraid to take criticism or rejection.
