Meet Logik Provider of Thought Drift Music

Today we’d like to introduce you to Logik Provider.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Logik. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
|As far as I can remember, music has always been a part of my life. I was born in East Los Angeles (General Hospital), and raised by my Grandmother in El Salvador from the age of 2-5 years old. I recall her singing to me at night before my bedtime, and until this day I have a cassette recording with her singing to me. My mother who recently passed away in May 2018, was constantly singing her heart away as well… she had those 70’s old-school 12″ records playing all day & night! I will never forget those memories when I would wake up to her sweet singing voice. I was shocked when she mentioned that my great grandmother refused to have my Grandmother pursue her dreams as a singer.  I guess it all comes to no surprise that ever since a kid, music was in my DNA. Beat patterns and musical instrumentation were virtually everywhere and played a part in my life ever since way back before I would even be aware of how we were are all connected with the vibration of the Universe.

I will admit that art (mainly drawing) was my first interest, but while attending Mt. Vernon Jr. High (now known as Johnnie Cochran Jr. High), performing arts became my calling at heart. My childhood friends and I were fascinated by other young groups which were featured on a TV show named (Star Search), which would influence us to create our own dancing crew (Da’ Bronson Unit). Following our creative choreography within local dance battles, we had the opportunity to perform our set during a Jr. High school play in front of the entire school (Link is on my website). This performance would be the first time I would feel sick to my stomach – lol. I recall peeking through the curtains as students were entering the school’s auditorium… the chatter ambience made it more intense as the auditorium filled. The time finally came as we performed our dance routine and we had such an amazing crowd reaction that it pumped an extreme adrenaline rush into my body! That was the moment I knew I was meant for the stage!

As music took over my inner passion, I decided to attend LACC (Los Angeles City College) to obtain a general knowledge for music which led to taking 3 semesters of classes including: Choir, Piano, Note taking, music technology and a concert series. Before I knew it, I was writing lyrics to my own Hip Hop beats and networking with some of the most talented upcoming and notably established underground musical artist in the L.A scene.

Realizing how Art, Music and Photography went hand in hand, I had my intentions on investing on a DSLR camera to further develop my creative vision. The time presented itself and I invested on a Nikon D7000 (thanks to local modern artist “Dezcjon”). The lens definitely opened new opportunities for my creative works. What started as a dream had become my everyday living… From providing memorable photography to artists on & off stage, to producing music for Film/TV, and as always doing free cross-promotion beats for MC’s in the city or via social media… My love for the arts will always stay grounded.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Obstacles? I doubt there will ever be a smooth road in achieving a childhood dream, as there are no instructions to life or whatever path one is supposed to take. Although I have made many mistakes that set me back along the way, I have never given up… not even a thought of doing so. I believe that when you have that inborn gut feeling, you just need to stick with it, no matter the challenges that will surely present themselves during the journey.

Sure I’ve had many challenges… Where do I even begin?

I remember being on a $2.00 budget-a-day during a difficult time in my life. My credit cards at the time were maxed-out, and I was living pay-check to Pay-check. This is the first time I have ever mention this, so VoyageLA.com -you are getting a piece of the exclusive story.

I had a restraining order issued by my neighbor and I was forced to relocate from my home address. I had to show the court proof that I was residing at a different address during my future court appearances. Sometimes I stayed at my cousin Mike’s garage (RIP), other times at my cousin Nen’s, and on one of my best friend’s (Dewey’s). I could only hang for the first few months, then It all fell apart from that point. As I remained fighting a bogus case, I was broke & had no money to spare.
