Meet Liz Walsh Artist in Tujunga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Walsh.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Liz. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I live and work in Los Angeles, CA. Inspired by the plant life and city sprawl of California, my practice is focused on the mix between technology and the entropy of the natural world. I am currently working on large scale paintings of crash sites and future foliage. I received an MFA in Painting from CCAC, and a BFA in Painting from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I have attended the Headlands Center of the Arts residency as well as a residency at Cooper Union in NYC. My work has been shown around the U.S. as well as abroad.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Painting and making work has been a way for me to understand and process the world around me, sometimes this feels more necessary than other times.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Liz Walsh Artist story. Tell us more about the business.
I love to make things and also love making things with my daughter, sometimes being a mom is a lot like being artist, I’m constantly learning from my practice and being a part of a family. I think art is a great way for people to connect and create a community, investing in our community/communities seems like a meaningful way for people to change and cultivate what they would like to see in the world.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck is being ready when opportunity presents its self. So always be ready.
