Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Inez.
Hi Liz, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started doing Makeup Professionally in 2007 after graduating the Empire Academy of Makeup. I have loved Makeup since I was a little girl. I would sneak into my Moms Makeup collection and take her Makeup from the age of 10 haha. Although she found it really annoying at the time, she now sees it was all worth it.
I have now been doing Makeup on the professional level for 17 years. After graduating from Makeup School I worked for several Makeup brands like MAC, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier and Elizabeth Arden. I have taken a little piece of what each brand has taught and incorporated it into my Makeup style, which why how I have developed a lot of my signature looks that my clients love today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to get here has been a rocky one. There have been so many challenges and setbacks but you must always “keep swimming.” If you never quit, how can you fail?
In the beginning, the challenges were marketing and getting my name out there. Once word of mouth began to spread, that is when I started developing a strong clientele. To keep that clientele and to keep growing, you have to keep growing and ask for help. It takes a village and by partnering with other artists and utilizing services, other businesses offer, we have made it 17 years so far in business!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Certified Makeup Artist and Event hair stylist! Beauty Makeup is my favorite genre of the Beauty Industry. I feel it is the most powerful and transformative service.
I am most proud of how many people I have been able to make feel beautiful (even though they already are), but that’s just what Makeup does, it’s a feeling it gives people. That feeling is confidence and that is so powerful.
What sets me apart from others is my individual makeup style. I want my people to still see my clients through the Makeup and notice my client when they walk in the room, not necessarily the Makeup.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has played no role in my business. I have gotten to where I am purely off of God’s Grace and hard work.
