Today we’d like to introduce you to Little Brazil Trio.
Little Brazil Trio, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We were all born and raised in Brazil but it was in Pasadena, CA that it all started. Each one of us moved out to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music and in 2015 we decided to get together and create our own music. That’s how Little Brazil Trio was born.
Since then, we – Natália Spadini, Marcelo Bucater, and Bruno Justi – have been performing together in several festivals, TV shows and renown venues including a performance for iconic fashion designer Martha Medeiros launch in Los Angeles and opening for Universal Music platinum artist Claudia Leitte – who is also a presenter for The Voice Brazil; Roy O. Disney Concert Hall at calARTS, Make Music Pasadena, Summer Jazz Concert Series (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019), Planeta Brasil by Rede Globo International (biggest TV station in Brazil), Universal Studios’ Dante Night Show; and many others. And we’re thrilled about our freshly out of the oven EP titled VEM.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being an independent artist is not always easy, but Brazilian music has always been welcomed everywhere and we’re very grateful for that! Being in Los Angeles has been great for us, we are able to collaborate with a lot of great artists, learn from these experiences and all that certainly influence in a positive way on how we create our music.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Specialized in combining traditional Brazilian music with modern elements, Little Brazil Trio is a blend of acoustic instruments, electronic elements, soundscapes, powerful vocals, and exquisite melodies.
With our new EP VEM, we take the listeners through a very diverse and powerful sound journey. VEM is an invitation for people of all races and beliefs to come together as one and dance by the sounds of our rich culture. The single, which carries the same title as the EP, is a collaboration with awarded North American rapper/artist Katisse.
The EP also presents modern arrangements for some of the best pieces by master Brazilian composers Tom Jobim, Guinga, Carlinhos Brown and Pixinguinha. The beautiful linocut-style cover artwork which also embodies the diversity of Brazilian culture was created by artist Edson Ikê.
Everything was produced and recorded here in Los Angeles and we had to honor to have some of our closest friends in it: John Baffa (Grammy-winning master engineer), Nando Raio (Andra Day’s bassist), Marko Fazio (producer), Clarice Cast (percussionist), Carlos Ancelmo (songwriter), Daniel MacNamara e Rup Chattopadhyay (sound engineers). We invite all the readers to check out our new music on Spotify!
