Meet Lisa Vitta of Lisa Vitta – Enlightened Living OC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Vitta.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always felt drawn to yoga, meditation & metaphysics since I was very young. Once I turned 40 I really dove into finding my true self and created my first Sacred Space in my home for Meditation. Several years later I found myself living in LA and looking for meditation and stumbled On Golden Bridge Yoga which offered Kundalini Yoga & Meditation. My best friend was in town that weekend and we drove an hour into the city during to see this beautiful global village and what it had to offer.

Stepping into the studio, we were instantly hypnotized by the smell of Indian food and chai tea, we felt very much at home. We sat down waiting for the class to begin and the teacher arrived 20 minutes late in full white and a turban, I thought to myself “wow this is authentic!” Our experience that day changed my life and we had what we called “the perfect day”, nothing could go wrong. I knew I needed more of this yoga & meditation.

My family moved once again to the South bay and settled into Manhattan Beach where I found a kundalini class 3 times a week, I was ecstatic to say the least. One year later I decided to deepen my practice and found myself in a 9-month training at the Golden Bridge where I first began. I found at the end of the journey I wanted to actually teach this amazing technology to other people.

I was building a new beach home with my husband at the time and converted the entire basement into a home studio for yoga. One year later I was embarking on a new studio located downtown Manhattan Beach, one block from the beach. Gurus Gate Yoga was born! I owned the studio for a little under 3 years and sold it while still staying on to teach yoga to our students. I was now working full time building and designing homes with my husband Tim, balancing the two different careers.

At present, I am partnered with my daughter Marisa and we own our design company, Vitta Homes.

I created Full Moon Goddess circles once a month out of my house, celebrating the feminine and the beauty of just getting everyone together. These groups grew and I hosted up to 40 women in my home. I took on a subbing a kundalini class at Yoga Works for 5 months while my good friend and teacher was on maternity leave and it was a beautiful experience. I inherited my family home in Mission Viejo and once again my husband and I decided to uproot and move back to where we began embarking on a huge remodel. Two years later the home is completed and I am currently teaching two classes at You and the Mat Studio, located in Laguna Niguel and my home studio located in the back of my house.

Each month I join forces with other yogis and we host Healing Sound Baths, Workshops to deepen the Soul, Full Moon & New Moon Celebrations along with Mantra Drumming Circles. Learn more at www.lisavitta.com.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road was not always paved with good intentions. One we had completed our beach home in Manhattan Beach we had to sell it one year later when my husband decided to change careers and become a full time builder. I supported this, but it was definitely a challenging period for us. I always believed the saying from the movie Fields of Dream… “If you build it, they will come”. Well that’s not the real life and I struggled with high rent in my first studio, parking issues and students not showing up. I struggled night after night trying to figure out a solution to the problem, which never really appeared. The truth is, you can’t change the outside influences!

Teaching an ancient Yoga that was used 1000’s of years ago by royal sages can be intimidating for the beginner yogi. Its calls upon you to close your eyes and tap inside to what’s happening beneath the surface. Most just want a workout and look good in their fitness clothes. Kundalini Yoga brings your beauty from within to the outside by your radiance and it brings up emotions to the surface. I love this this yoga because each time you sit down on your mat you peel back another layer to your authentic self.

Lisa Vitta – Enlightened Living OC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As a very creative person, I tend to take on a lot of different projects. I currently own Vitta Homes, which is an Interior Design company here in Orange County. I specialize in creating homes that are modern farmhouse evoking a style that is warm, comfortable with clean lines. I bring to the table my yoga background and each client I tend to mentor along with designing their home. As a creative yogi I come in with a can do, problem solving approach. Sacred Space design in the home & business is truly one of my favorites now days, introducing the positive attributes of having your own space for reflection & meditation.

I am excited about introducing more students into the lineage of Kundalini Yoga & Meditation. It has profound immediate effects that really balances the body, clears all the glandular systems and leaves you with a euphoric feeling of connection to all. January 2018 I open the doors to my Home Studio in Mission Viejo where students can come in an intimate setting and deepen their knowledge and experience.

I feel blessed to have two beautiful paths that lead together. Yoga and Design are my passion and I love sharing that energy with others and guiding them whether it’s improving their home or connecting them to their inner light!! Life is abundant and full of JOY!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
One of my markers for success has always been with the experience of my student or client. The end result when they look into your eyes with tears of joys that you have made a difference in their lives. A home is where the heart lives and design is personal to me, I want it to be an emotional feeling when people walk in their door. On the other hand, when students come up to me after class with an experience of self and thanking me for opening the doors to such a sacred space…. I melt and my job is a success.

I never have really been into the “money thing” I have plenty of that, I love the feeling of connecting heart to heart with people. Community and coming together in celebrations is true success and brings me the greatest feeling of happiness!!
