Meet Lisa Szeto of Pinned Up

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Szeto.

Lisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a wife, mother, a social worker, and bra fitter. Currently, I work full time as a social worker while building my business.

I received my first bra fitting in 2009, I was in graduate school and planning my wedding at the same time. I began to search online and in stores for foundation pieces that would fit and support me (as a plus sized and full bust women) and help me feel beautiful, sexy, and loved on my wedding day! This proved to be more difficult than I had thought! Nine years later, I have been fitted multiple times by great women. But I felt there was still something missing- convenience!

This is how Pinned Up came to be! By offering bra and lingerie fittings in the comfort of the wonderful women’s home that trusts me to help them with such a personal need. I know when I have great fitting undergarments on I feel as though I can conquer the world and I love helping other women feel the same! My husband and children have been wonderful on this journey over the past two years!

Has it been a smooth road?
Some of the struggles have been how to grow in a sustainable manner. Because it is an inventory based business, it can be difficult to predict what sizes, styles and needs my customers will want or have. As time has passed its gotten easier. A particular bra style can have over 20 different variants with the band and cup range.

Another struggle is sometimes getting the different brands to meet me and allow me to carry their brand because I’m a mobile boutique and not a brick and mortar shop. And like many working parents finding a work-life balance while starting a business.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in personal fittings and small parties in the comfort of their home. I take the time to get to know the woman and what she is looking for and wanting. I’m known for being easy to open up to which is where my skills as a social worker come in handy, making the women feel at ease and not judged, helping them feel beautiful because they all are!

I’m proud that I work hard to help find the right fit and piece for them! Sometimes I might not have the size or perfect piece for them, and I’ll see if I can get it for them and will come back until its right!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The city as a whole has been welcoming and supportive. Since I’m mobile, I haven’t had much dealings directly with the city.

  • Individual fittings start at $30 and go down to zero
