Meet Lisa Persaud of LP Relations (LPR)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Persaud.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ll try to sum it up as quick as possible because my resume is pretty extensive lol. I started in the industry when I was 14 years old, designing event flyers which led me to promotion to then coordinating events. This built a name for me in the business, which I then wanted to start doing for others. I began freelance writing contributing interviews to other publications until I decided I wanted to create a platform for people in ALL fields of the industry – which then led to the creation of Industry Magazine.

A publication I dedicated to showcasing talent both in front and behind the scenes. The Industry manifested opportunities for me beyond my imagination. The relationships I made during its time is ultimately what led to the creation and success of my firm. But before the creation of LPR, I also got direct label experience working with many music labels, most recent Bad Boy Entertainment which also brought me into the branding world (Ciroc and Sean John) That experience taught me a lot and the affiliation branded me. I was juggling a lot, being a brand ambassador, marketing, doing radio (Intact) and hosting events around the world. It was awesome but I wanted to do something more meaningful. So I then decided to commit to PR and create experiences and positive exposure for talent again. Now not only talent but also venue branding which allows me to work with not only a purpose but travel the world branding resorts, product launches, venues, celebrity projects, etc…

The foundation of my firm is based on my network and resources. I’ve always wanted to end up in public relations and my journey got me here.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was definitely a bumpy journey. I think being Canadian, a woman and someone with no immediate “cosign” you have to work harder and smarter. I’ve had opportunities stripped from me for not accepting some inappropriate advances. It’s not easy maintaining your normal social life while trying to build an empire. You lose friends, you miss out on important moments, your health can deteriorate, it’s exhausting – When people say you success requires sacrifice, that is truly an understatement; But if its what you want and love, it’s worth it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with LP Relations (LPR) – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
