Today we’d like to introduce you to Linnéa Hedberg and Lara Heine.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We met in NYC during our Acting for film training. Linnea came from Sweden and Lara came from Germany. We became really close friends, and now we’re each others family. Lara first moved to Los Angeles May 18 to finish her BFA degree and Linnéa followed in August the same year, working on her OPT.
Both of us were professionally trained dancers before a severe knee injury brought us to the acting industry.
Over the last months, we became each other’s safe spots. Our friendship is different from others in this industry. We are very similar, but instead of competing with each other we are supporting each other. We are getting each other parts and make sure that we always have each other’s backs.
We started to brand ourselves that we come as a package, and people know us as Sisters. A few weeks ago, we got the offer from the Stages LA Theater to produce and direct our first play, and we couldn´t be more excited.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been smooth. Before we met each other, we were dancers. We pulled our ACL and meniscus during the same year, same week and in the same country. We did not know each other back then. It was hard for us to recover but once we were in each others life the horizon seemed so much brighter.
We are generally very happy people and go through life trying to spread that happiness, but it is not always easy. ‘We are far away from home. Linnea’s family is all the way back in Sweden and Laras in Germany. It can get very lonely, and it is hard in this acting industry. People are backstabbers and having a person by your side who believes in you, is priceless.
LH Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We created LH Productions because we want to create our own content, as actors, directors and producers.
Going through performing art school in Europe we had to put up with a lot bullying from teachers and students. We believe creating an open and loving environment is going to be more beneficial to make you grow as a person. As dancers we were pushed to our limits and it might have made into better performers but not people. We want to see the people we work with evolve on an emotional and professional level.
Hate will make you cautious, Love will make you grow.
Our first production is going to be the play: Some Girls by Neil LaBute. The play will be at the Stages LA Theater in Santa Monica and will go up in July.
We are so lucky to have Ross Cantalupo who believes in us and took us under his wings. He gave us a chance, and we are very grateful and excited.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being able to put up our own play.
On top of that, having Mr. Durant from DMC Management discover us and letting us freelance with his company.
A few months back we had to choose between our careers and our friendship. And we chose each other and we always will.
