Today we’d like to introduce you to Liliana Marquez.
Hi Liliana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started my small business about 5 years ago as a hobby.
I love to craft and when I bought my first cutting machine I wanted to create so many things for my friends and family. When the pandemic hit, I was laid-off from my job, I like many others turned my hobby into my small business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
it hasn’t been a smooth road, I wish at the time I started I had someone to guide me on EVERYTHING I would need to start my business. I’ve struggled with advertising my business as well as constantly comparing myself to others.
Trying to maintain a positive in a saturated market is also another struggle.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make customized drink tumblers as well as other small items.
My specialty is my snow globe tumblers! I love creating something so special that it brings a huge smile to the owner’s face. I attend pop-up events with my family I love to incorporate the family atmosphere into my business.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is watching my mom sewing on her machine. She would create beautiful pieces of clothing. She taught me at a young age to create with love and that’s something I do every day!
