Meet Lezlie Mitchell of Love Lezlie in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lezlie Mitchell.

Lezlie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was a little girl I would say that I wanted to be an actress or a nun when I grew up. My passion has always been spirituality and one of my natural abilities has always been storytelling. I moved to Los Angeles as soon as I graduated from college in hopes of an acting career. Now, over a decade later I’ve enjoyed a taste of working in front of the camera in both print and commercials for major brands. But the interesting thing is that the thread through all of it has been one of spirituality and faith. I’d often find myself talking to people on set or in auditions about their dreams that needed interpretation, or praying for healing, or even spiritual book recommendations. Although my career hasn’t played out the way I imagined it would, the childhood dreams of faith and storytelling are obvious in my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think from the outside looking in, it could appear that my road has been smooth. But in fact, it’s been anything but that. My blog, Love Lezlie, was actually birthed out of my internal frustration with having so many close calls career wise and being in this place that seemed like a waiting room. Instead of waiting, I decided to create a platform where I could share my heart with others and build a small community of like minds and hearts. The purpose behind my blog was to explore what a lifestyle of love looked like. And for me, that means to love God/faith, love others/community, and to love self/healthy self-care.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Love Lezlie – what should we know?
It’s been an organic and gradual process with growing Love Lezlie over the past 5 years. I have operated more as a creative artist than a business in the past, and have focused on writing a series of topics at a time. The blog has allowed me to connect with other brands who specialize in spreading love and inspiration and has also connected me with others who are interested in working with me as a storyteller or in a spiritual capacity. Though I haven’t officially advertised the spiritual services available, I have had numerous referrals over the years through word of mouth. My specialty is a little odd in that it’s inner alchemy. Inner alchemy is the process of turning your pain, trials, and life lessons into something beautiful, useful and powerful. This can be done in many ways, so my process is to connect with a person first and get their background story and then proceed from there.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The obvious answer for me to this questions would be love. But I realize that word is so over-used in our culture. To me, love has looked like a few key things – keeping an open heart despite hurt, optimism, compassion towards myself and others, and faith. Of course, I’ve had to maintain an amount of grit as well to still be here in Los Angeles and pursuing dreams.
