Meet Lexus Macon of Silver Tongue Media in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexus Macon.

Lexus, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for film and media began in college. I attended Clark Atlanta University where I studied Mass Media Arts. I quickly learned that as a journalism major your voice is important, especially attending a historically black institution. I started up photography to better understand the camera, and soon after fell in love with Video. I started hosting rap cyphers that would be released via YouTube, and from there artist started to ask me to shoot their videos. After my first one, I knew that was the path id decide to take.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely been bumpy, but I’ve learned anything worth having doesn’t come easy. As an independent filmmaker, you always have your troubles, like not having enough money to execute a certain vision, or not having the right equipment to get you booked for something you know you can accomplish, or even lacking experience to get a filmmaking job that will help with both those issues. But our creativity is something we can always stand on, no amount of money or experience can take that away. Fortunately for me I have grit, and I’ve always been determined to make it happen with or without help. If they close the front door, I’m through the back.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Silver Tongue Media – what should we know?
My company specializes in visual arts. Music videos, commercial, film, short-form online content, etc. But what I’m known for is music videos. What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve gone to get it on my own. Having no formal contacts in Los Angeles, I stepped into unknown territory and managed to make connections that have propelled me into a stable position.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Success is something I’m still working on. I don’t believe I will truly get there, and that’s what keeps me going. P.O.P (pursuit of perfection)
