Meet Lenka Wallace of LinkUpWithLenka

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lenka Wallace.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lenka. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in the Czech Republic. While I was in college, I visited the United States for the first time and fell in love with California. It was a short visit though, and soon I had to return to finish my Master’s program. Once I graduated, I moved to the US permanently. At first, I didn’t speak the language. I had to learn English to be able to utilize my education and do what I loved which was elementary school teaching. I managed to master the language in only a few years and got recruited by the Los Angeles school district. I spent three years working with children with disabilities. And even though it was a great experience, after three years, I started to feel that my calling is bigger. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that I was meant to make an impact. I knew I wanted to make a difference and help a lot of people. I also knew that I didn’t want a job. So I started to think about what would make me happy. What would be fulfilling and at the same time it would create a great income?

I explored all my passions. First, Interior Design. I studied it at UCLA for two years. Second, I got into nutrition and fitness coaching. I spent nine years working as a health coach. But that wasn’t “it” either. Then I found it! It kind of all came together at the same time… My friend invited me to try some of her products. I was looking for a good skincare product at the time, so naturally, I said yes. My skin issue, melasma, got resolved in only two months. I was in. I joined her in business. While building my skincare business with her, I wrote and published my first book which became a bestseller right away. I have developed a coaching program for women who want to “glow up.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest obstacle was definitely the language. It is not easy to teach and coach, or write a book, in a second language. I feel very conscious about what I am saying and how I am pronouncing what I am saying most of the time. I catch myself translating back and forth in my head while having a conversation with someone…It’s kinda crazy!
Another difficult thing was leaving a great job, my family, and a certain social status behind and moving to another country without knowing anyone here and without language skills. I had to start from scratch. The beginnings were really hard. Without the language, I had to take jobs working as a housekeeper or nanny to make a living, to be able to support myself. I worked hard at my jobs and even harder on my new skills. I knew that if I were to succeed, I had to “reinvent” myself. Eventually, with a help of many amazing mentors and friends along the way, I got it all together.

LinkUpWithLenka – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
LinkUpWithLenka is my brand. I am a beauty & style coach and a bestselling author. I also coach business. As I said, it all happened at the same time – I joined my friend and business partner in skincare business. I am a Rodan+Fields Consultant. I get to support people with their skin issues and help them find the right mix of products that will solve those problems for them. I was helped, and now I am paying it forward. My team of business associates is called Team Smile because we love to put smiles back on people’s faces. There is nothing more satisfying than a client who is smiling ear to ear because their skin has cleared of acne, or discoloration, or redness and dryness. Or maybe they look years younger!

We even took the “create smiles” concept to the next level by giving back to the Smile Train organization. Every month I send 10% of what we produce as a team to Smile Train, therefore creating smiles on the faces of children born with cleft lip and cleft palate in the third world countries… This makes it all worth it. Last month we received two before/after pictures of successful surgery results that we contributed to over the past few months. My vision is to sponsor 20 repair surgeries per month. That will take a big team of passionate consultants!

Also, while building my skincare business, I accepted a challenge to write. I wrote and published my first book Dare to Thrive, Girl which became an Amazon bestseller right away. And then I developed a phenomenal coaching program for women who want to “glow up.” Everything came together.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Hmmm….There were two.

The first time, when I graduated Summa Cum Laude from my Master’s program at one of the best universities in my country. I was chosen by my peers to read the graduation speech. It was shortly after my mom passed away and my dad and my grandma were sitting in the audience. I felt very proud and accomplished. I thought it was the top moment of my life. That I will never feel like this again.

But then my first book got published, and it hit the bestseller in two categories within 24 hours. And I felt it again. Accomplishment. Feeling of healthy pride. Like “Job well done, Lenka!”
