Meet Leandro Watarai of In Our Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leandro Watarai.

Hi Leandro, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduate in culinary School in Brazil. Worked in so many different kitchen, from vegan, resort, tradition Brazilian food, Indian, Thai, and others.

Moved to US and start knowing better this kind of “meal prep” lifestyle. Start to help a meal prep company and stayed there for three years. Worked in all different areas of the company, dishes, prep team, line cook, created menus, packing, shopping, nutrition facts, diets and more.

After learning about each area, I start to think to creating my business with my own style.

The business started with me cooking for friends and then friends of friends. After that neighbor’s partnership with local gyms and it has grown to delivery service and support people to hit their goals.

I was looking to serve meals Gluten-free, using Organic Products. All meats are grass-fed, Healthy, Fresh and most important feel that the food was made In Our Kitchen (reason that chose this name). I want to give the customers the experience to eat healthy but with a homemade taste. Every month is a new menu including vegan options.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Dealing with customers is new and challenging. The follow up, the orders, the delivery were areas that I wasn’t used to work before. Getting early at the farmer’s market or grocery stores guarantees best products, so I need to make sure I’m the first in the line.

Trying to reduce the waste and finding compostable packaging that does not compromise the quality of the food.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Specialize in Meal Prep. The business was created to help people eating healthy and good food at the same time.

We are proud to reduce food waste and the compostable packaging.

We offer meals for the week with different types of proteins, carbohydrates and vegetables. Vegan option. Delivery at your door.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Enjoy the family meals on the weekends. I had a Japanese Grandparent and always heard the expression “mottainai” means “what a waste”. With that, I grow up learning how to create recipes with leftovers in the fridge.
