Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Nasser.
Leah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a lifestyle/fashion photo blogger on Instagram. I began my Instagram blog after contemplating it for a while. But, I was so glad I finally did. I’ve been so grateful for everyone who has helped make my blog grow the way it has in the past few months and I’m also overjoyed at the thought of being able to post pictures that may bring happiness to others or inspire them. As someone who is going to University soon and majoring in Journalism, maintaining a blog while keeping up with the stress of schoolwork has proved rewarding and helpful. Becoming a blogger has also taught me consistency and motivation and has made me think creatively. Being able to capture everyday style, items I use, and beautiful places in the most visually pleasing and artistic way I can have made me notice all the beautiful things that surround me every day.
Being an editor on my newspaper staff in high school showed me how important having a platform is, and I would like to use platforms to be able to have a positive impact on others. As a person who loves traveling, I anticipate sharing more travel photos and giving travel advice to others. And because of my love for shopping and all things fashion, I also want to continue to post more outfit inspirations and tips. My dream one day is to work for a magazine or become a successful entrepreneur. But, as a blogger, my goal is to have my blog reach more people and to create friendships with other bloggers like me.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I like to face obstacles head-on and try to always see the good out of different circumstances. Growing up with a single mother and a younger sister has taught me responsibility and always shown me how important family is. The constant love and support I’ve received from them have motivated me to achieve great things. I’m also surrounded by the most loving group of friends that have always been a wonderful influence in my life and constantly push me to do my best. Challenges are always a part of life, especially currently with my incoming stress of having to begin University and it is a new and completely different experience for me. But, I like to deal with those challenges with a strong mindset, a good plan and a smile on my face.
Leah’s Photo Journal – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My photoblog is all about posting colorful pictures with different products I love or with various color schemes. I like to correspond my posts with the seasons. Since spring is here, I post more pictures that remind me of the spring season. Flowers, bright colors and spring clothing inspiration are just some examples of how I like to match my posts with the changing seasons. I specialize in lifestyle, travel and fashion posts. I began by posting pictures of foods I’ve made or eaten and places I’ve traveled to and I expanded from there. I’m most proud of my growth in the last few months and the amazing bloggers and supportive people I’ve come across. I’d like to think what sets me apart from others is how my blog specializes in many different areas. Not only do I have lifestyle posts, but I also incorporate travel, food, fashion and many others onto my page.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Although I’m not an L.A. resident, I’ve been there several times and have family that lives there. I would say the best part of L.A. is its diversity, and your ability to see so many different cultures in different communities around the city. As an Ethiopian who loves my culture, I was excited to see Little Ethiopia and all the stores and restaurants from my homeland opening small businesses in one community in the L.A. area. It was so heartwarming seeing my fellow Ethiopians introducing our culture to others.
The only part of L.A. that I didn’t like so much was the traffic, but the beautiful weather and lovely outdoor malls made up for it. There’s always a happy and upbeat vibe that comes from L.A. and you can’t help but feel like feel like sunshine when you’re there.
