Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Zeoli.
Lauren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I think the dream of most bartenders is owning their own bar. I knew that I would never have an opportunity to own a brick and mortar space. So, I decided to establish a company that would allow me to work privately with clients to create quality cocktails suited to their events.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The hardest part about starting a business is starting a business… The paperwork, licensing, etc. can really bog you down. Working on a one on one level with people and providing great cocktails for their events is the easy part.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Authentic Cocktails story. Tell us more about the business.
Authentic Cocktails is a true “farm-to-bar” cocktail company. We specialize in unique, hand-crafted cocktails, but more than that, we specialize in relationships. When a client hires Authentic Cocktails, we work with them to provide a truly bespoke cocktail experience for their event.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think that I’m really lucky to get to work with my husband, because having your best friend as your business partner is always an asset. But I also think that in business, you create your own luck to a certain degree. You might get lucky to make a connection through a person you know, who knows another person who helps you get a job, but it all starts with the work you put into the initial relationship. You lucked out that so-and-so knew so-and-so…… but if you didn’t earn the referral from the get-go, based on your work ethic and your vision, the lucky referral would never have happened.
