Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Poole.
Lauren, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been training and performing in the arts since I was a little girl. Years of being told how to be, where to go, what’s “important” lead me to want/ need to explore life more. I stopped doing everything everyone wanted me to do and started doing the fun things I want to do.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been 100% bumpy and still is. You have to choose for yourself what quality of life you want to live.
Everyone has an opinion on what you should be doing, but at the end of the day, you have to block out that noise and listen to your own heart. But it’s difficult to do. We all have the disease to please on some level.
Lauren Poole – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What I do now explore things I’m into and I share them with others through social media, my blog, lunch dates haha. I’m proud of getting out into my own community, helping where I can, learning as much as I can, giving back where ever I can, and seeing new things all the time that I’ve never seen before.
I don’t know if this makes me much different then others… but maybe I’m different because I don’t go out into the world to judge it. I won’t ever write about something I don’t like. I believe the difference in me and someone else is I’m gonna look for the good everywhere.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Starting my blog was a huge step for me. Believing that my voice matters. We all have this underlying track in our brains that can tell us we aren’t good enough. Starting the blog allowed me to acknowledge that voice, but still do it anyway. It’s all in the baby steps.
