Meet Lauren Le Guilloux of Laurel & Fey in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Le Guilloux.

Lauren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Originally I studied fashion at FIDM to become a Creative Director for a magazine. I knew I loved creating beautiful images, sets and designs at a young age. Fast forward eight years later, that love transformed into creating intimate events in May 2016. I wanted to make a connection to the work I did, and what better way to connect to my work than including myself in clients love stories and celebrations. I started Laurel & Fey as a passion project and started small with bridal showers and parties, then quickly picked up weddings because all my friends were getting married at the time. Social media was my best friend and word got out that I was picking up speed. Now Laurel & Fey is four years old and I couldn’t be more proud on the momentum we’ve made.

I was also really lucky to have mentor push me in the right direction to start something for myself!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part, our road has been smooth. Somehow when doors continue to open, you know you’re doing something right.

I’d say one major roadblock we’ve hit was when Covid-19 happened and created a worldwide pandemic. We had to make adjustments and learn as we go. There was no clear roadmap of which road to take. It was important to individually feel out each situation with our clients this year and find out if postponing was the route to take. I have to say, this year we’ve hit a rough patch but we’re getting through this all together and making the right adjustments.

Please tell us about Laurel & Fey.
Laurel & Fey is a boutique event planning company that specializes in weddings of 150 guests or less. We actually just booked our first 300+ wedding for next year and it’s been super fun to plan. So we don’t always stick to 150 guests. The important part is that we make a connection with our clients. We pride ourselves in making these long-lasting relationships even after their wedding. The team and I really try to make sure we stick to a schedule of planning, but we’re also really flexible with changing things up in regard to our client’s schedules. We know they are very busy, which is why they hired us. Planners should be flexible to go above and beyond for our clients, sometimes it requires us to break our own rules sometimes.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I don’t think I would have done anything differently. I created this business so I could have some flexibility in life. I’ve learned a lot along the way and I feel that’s what defines you and makes you stronger.
