Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Goycochea.
Hi Laura, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This is a true love story! Story about the love and bond of mother and daughter. Originally from Latvia, Europe we made it all the way to Santa Barbara, CA. It has been a long, adventurous, exciting, difficult and very rewarding experience. Blue Blossoms was dreamt by Laura (daughter) one night, and she knew this was a gift that she will give to her mother for moving across the World to be with her and her family leaving everything she knew behind.
Working with flowers was Ingrid’s childhood dream that never seemed possible to bring to life so together with many dreams, lots of love and some bravery our company was made. We have moved from our bedroom to garage and finally to our own studio and store.
What can we say? – Dreams do come true, we just have to take the first step!
We also feel strongly about giving back and we believe that any good deed no matter how big or small can ignite goodness. For four years, every weekend we have been gifting our signature tiny bouquets to people. This is our “Pay it forward” project. We see the power of simple act of kindness which changes lives. We hope to show example to other businesses and hopefully one day when being asked about success of the business, one of the first questions will be “What issue you care about? What is your contribution?”
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy journey. There is something magical in this country we live in, this sensation that everything is possible. We actually believe this and that is why we took the step to create this beautiful business. Regardless, it has been full of challenges since its conception.
First of all, we do not have any business loans or investors. We grow at the speed that we are able to manage. Our original $1000 investment has multiplied and given fruits we could only dream about. We could have gone different direction, but this is what was comfortable for us, and we hope to inspire other adventurous minds that sometimes you don’t need much to start except for the love and hard work.
We are proud to be women-owned business and we are also proud to bring emotional/ heart aspect in this journey. We hope to inspire business people to change the conversation and use business as avenue for connection and change. I often say, at the end of the day if nothing else matters, the greatest gift is the healing and connection I created with my mother. We grow together, we learned, we forgave, we healed, we reconnected.
My hope is also to set an example to my children (2,4 and 6). I am a full-time mother, homeschooling them and I work at nights and any other time that allows. When you work with your heart invested, nothing is difficult. There are only challenges to overcome. I hope they learn this from me and grow up loving adventures, challenges and not necessarily choosing the easiest way because easiest way is not always the most rewarding one.

We see flower arranging as art and we take great honor to be trusted with the highest level of human expression (love) for each other. Each piece we create is unique, loved and cared for. Our vision is to communicate the love through our creations. We do fresh flower deliveries Mon-Sat in Santa Barbara area and Tue-Fri to ALL California.
Every week we do large installations- weddings and celebrations. We are currently booking for 2022 and 2023.
We have a beautiful, dreamy storefront in Santa Barbara.
Our slogan is “Love Grows Here” to always remind us the most important ingredient in everything that we create- Love.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Love for family and nature, ability to dream, being able to prioritize and focus, endurance to work for long and late hours.
