Meet Larry Williams of Next2Get in Inglewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry Williams.

Larry, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My personal history plays a huge part in the brand. There are so many trying and negative experiences from my childhood to young adult years that God brought me through and blessed me. As a young man who had no real identity, a mom on drugs, no consistent place to call home, gangs, drugs, jail & surviving the streets I want to share how to overcome the past. I didn’t really realize for a long time until a couple of years ago that my testimony exists to inspire others.  When I started the brand Nex2Get 5 years ago, it was just the concept of selling motivational shirts like “Next2Get Fit”  or “Next2Get Drafted”. A couple shirts sold mainly to friends or family, but no real success when it came to the public because there was no knowledge/history or celebrity behind it.  Through the months and years, the concept changed and I found my purpose of speaking and mentoring, embracing that Next2Get was more then a clothing line, but a movement to inspire others.  Today the brand still hasn’t taken off, but I am having great success in reaching and working with the youth with doors opening and believing the best is yet to come!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy path, although I always believed it would be or should be.  I started the brand with no experience and no professional business guidance. I have made many mistakes along the way that were frustrating, but I am grateful because I have learned from them. I had invested lots of money in different avenues believing those things would take me to the next level and they didn’t.  Mentally, the biggest obstacle and challenge is knowing you have an amazing idea/concept that can have a huge impact in sports, fitness and personal development, but not having the connections or knowledge how to get your brand out into the world. I am finally at the point where I am not constantly trying to make things happen, but believing that God will open all the doors that need to be opened in the His timing… I just have to keep becoming a better me in Him.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Next2Get – what should we know?
Next2Get is a Mindset as well as a 4-8 week curriculum that I would like to get into middle/high schools, juvenile centers and other community agencies to take action on the dreams and purpose of the youth. Every letter in Next2Get is broken down and has an assignment to go with it with the focus on changing an individual’s mindset.

N ext: find the positive so you can find your next move
E mpower: believe in yourself
X factor: is our minds
T ransformation: Commitment & discipline
2 you + an action = 2
G rowth: is continual, every year you want to be better than you were last year
E arn: The effort you put in is the effort you get out
T hrive: flourish & prosper because you want to continually develop yourself. Creating routine to consistently align with your goals = What are you Next2Get?

We specialize inInspiring others no matter age, race, experiences that they can embrace their uniqueness and be Next2Get success in anything they desire.

What are you most proud of as a company: I am most proud of being able to work with the youth and their excitement and involvement in wanting to succeed. The youth’s excitement motivates me more to be the best mentor and support system I can be to them.

What sets you apart from others: My story and experiences set me apart from others and wanting to inspire people that do not believe there is another way. Next2Get is not just a brand it is a movement.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My faith is essential to my success.  Without faith and action there can be no success. I am excited that I own my story (the good, bad, ugly & great), which empowers others to own theirs.  Not every story and struggle is the same…but the possibility is the same that everyone can be Next2Get their Success.
