Meet Lara Maria Silva of Deep Rooted Stillness in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lara Maria Silva.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lara Maria. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It’s funny, while I’ve been on my journey for some time, I feel like I am always just at the beginning. I grew up in Santa Cruz, California. A sleepy beach town on the central coast of California, quiet and naturally beautiful, snuggled between the Pacific ocean and the redwood-filled mountains. At home, however, things were not very quiet or beautiful. The emotionally volatile chaos I experienced there deeply affected me in ways that carried through into my adulthood. At age nine, I discovered self-expression through acting. The stages and theaters of the public schools I attended became my real home. As soon as I could, I blazed a trail to NYC attending NYU. At the time, I did not feel confident enough to pursue a degree in acting, so I played it safe with a liberal arts degree.

Upon graduating, I finally started to pursue acting. I struggled to balance an artistic career and work. I became a flight attendant, which quenched my desire for adventure and financial stability but made it difficult for me to fully commit to the work I truly loved. This created a huge disconnect for me internally which lead to depression and anxiety. I needed to shift something, to break the cycle, so I moved back west to Los Angeles.

Five months into living in Los Angeles, through a mystical chain of events, I was recommended to my now mentor Angelica Singh. Prior to meeting her, I knew nothing about what she did. She came highly recommended by a close friend who thought Angelica could help me address the difficulties I was encountering due to the childhood trauma I had experienced. When I first went to see her, I had massive levels of anxiety; on a scale of one to ten, I was at an eight. After my first session with her, I was at a zero. My energy had completely shifted. I was in my body, centered, and neutral. It was clear to me that Angelica was gifted beyond anything I had ever experienced before. It was there, at my first session, that she recommended I attend one of her Embodiment Process Workshops. It was in that small and intimate group that I came into relationship with myself and others by becoming embodied and present. The workshop was about uncovering a Soul intention and that weekend turned into one of the single most profound experiences of my life. Our work together over the course of two and half days changed everything for me. It had never occurred to me to enter the world as a healing practitioner, but I was drawn to attend other workshops until I finally joined Angelica’s two-year Embodiment Process Foundational Training. Now, almost five years later, I have started Deep Rooted Stillness, my own healing practice in Hollywood. I am passionate and excited about sharing this incredibly powerful work with others.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been bumpy…real bumpy. Yet, somehow, the bumpier the road, the bigger the lessons. In 2017, a massive heartbreak, complete job overhaul, and two major moves from place-to-place-to-place, all brought me to my knees. I remember asking, “Why is this all happening at once?” It was actually Angelica who replied, “More bang for your buck.” This work allows me to see that my greatest gifts come from or are a result of my deepest traumas. Gifts and upheaval are related and connected. Everything counts. We have to integrate the darkest, youngest, and disowned parts of ourselves into the Whole. When we integrate and accept all of who we are, we become unstoppable. This is what I want to bring to the lives of my clients and everyone I come into contact with.

I am still an artist continuing my career as an actor and feel very lucky to have this restorative, grounding process through which I can connect and make deep, meaningful relationship to my Self and to others.

Deep Rooted Stillness – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Deep Rooted Stillness is my company, wherein I work one-on-one with clients in sessions that involve light touch and gentle holds along the body. This process facilitates a down-regulation of the nervous system, encouraging the release of energetic blockages, and allowing for a deepening into their own strength and resiliency. Sessions tend to be deeply meditative and opening. My particular strength lies in my ability to ground someone, to help them energetically come back into their body, bringing a level of stillness and depth that is highly restorative.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It is a profound privilege to work with each and every one of my clients. I think what I am most proud of and what resonates with me most is how often, after a session with me, my clients say, “I feel like myself.” Sometimes we get so tossed around in the outside world that we lose touch with who we are at a Soul level. If I can help someone reconnect in this way, I’ve done my job.
