Meet Lana Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lana Davis.

Hi Lana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
A high school athlete & young aspiring actor, I started my college career extremely eager to take the world on. I didn’t realize while taking on the world, I was tacking on the pounds. In my junior year of college, I knew my body had changed but I didn’t realize how much.

It wasn’t until dating a guy who suggested I lost some weight, (yes he was a jerk, but…) I got on the scale and what I thought was 125 because of the college 15 was an entire 165 with no wiggle room. It was at that moment I needed to change EVERYTHING. I changed the snacks I prepared for college, and as a Guest Service Rep at Staples Center, I learned to decline the chefs offers for savory dishes and decadent desserts. It was hard, but I knew I didn’t feel comfortable in my skin and I knew it was time to change. Once graduated in 2010 and somewhat successful in my journey, I worked almost five years in a career I was great at but not at all passionate about. It was through the Grace of God and an awesome opportunity in 2013 that I was inspired to leave my corporate job in Business Development for a Dot com to pursue personal training full time. It’s had its ups & downs and the pandemic seemed like it would shatter me, BUT I MADE A MOVE & decided to PIVOT, and I’ve seen my business grow & my clientele thrive. I’ve taken my business that was limited to 5-10 miles radius globally, and in just under a year I’ve scaled and expanded my reach. Now that I am online offering nutrition coaching, live boot camps, on demand video workouts & private virtual training, I am no longer restricted and able to reach lives and pour life into my clients all over the world. It’s been a truly amazing time & I am so grateful I’ve been able to serve my clients through such a crazy season.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a personal trainer, the struggle is always real. And especially with all the influences on Instagram & Social Media Platforms. It’s easy to believe every trainer just designs workouts & no one actually trains clients, but that is not the case at all. And because I have never worked for a big box gym, I’ve had to have the marketing, advertising & business savvy to just get it going. I’ve always worked as an independent contractor, so once I received my certification from NASM, I’ve focused on lead gen, finding places to train & client retention. I think once you define your audience and the services they need, you’ll eliminate some of the struggles but that comes with time & trial & error.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m FitsLana, I’m known for my long running class THE LABB, that stands for legs, abs & booty blast. I am a substitute teacher a few days a week and personal trainer extraordinaire, which makes me an educator at heart. My passion is educating & empowering my clients to live their best lives through balanced nutrition & fitness efforts. I pour into my clients filling them up so they can live up to their full potential not just within their fitness goals but in every aspect of their lives. My clients know when they plug in with me they don’t just get a personal trainer or a coach but someone who understands how to bridge the gap from where they are to where they want to be.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Define your voice. Know who you are, what you stand for, and who you want to serve. Remember yes you’re a beast in the gym, you’re an effective personal trainer but you’re also a servant, and the more you focus on listening to your clients & serving them efficiently everything else will follow.
