Meet Kwame Adu and Frank Hoody of Driving Indoors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kwame Adu and Frank Hoody, aka Driving Indoors.

Kwame and Frank, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started in high school. Kwame is from North New Jersey, and Frank is from Pittsburgh, but we attended a boarding school in Central Pennsylvania, where we had met in the 10th Grade. By then we had both been rapping separately until we started making songs together and by our senior year, we had formed Driving Indoors..

We attended college in East Pennsylvania for a year before deciding to leave and make the move to Los Angeles, where we are today.

Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely some bumps. We didn’t really see each other for quite some time after we dropped out. Kwame was in LA that fall after dropping out, Frank was working on a way to get there himself. It was really the first time in three or four years that we weren’t around each other. It gave us some room to grow for ourselves as people and artists, but made a living and working with each other a bit more strained when we linked back together. So on top of our own personal issues, we had some underlying things to work on when it came to each other.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We’re rappers! More than that, we’re a Super Rap Task Force! We pride ourselves in being really good at what we do, which is rap and make music. Frank can sing really well too. We’re also really good dancers and can steal a show at any party that we’re at. What sets us apart from others is really our dynamic, we think. Sometimes we have to ask ourselves if we’re real people or anime characters from a show lol.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is a cool place to make something happen for people who want to work in the music industry. Generally, you don’t have to be here to start out, it really depends on where you live. Even people in small towns can develop a following or platform if they do it right. But LA has presented a lot of opportunity for people who want to work outside their city.
