Today we’d like to introduce you to Kumiko Yamamoto.
Kumiko, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for natural and holistic healing came to my heart after my own experience of health challenges during my young teenage years. I experienced how mind, body, and spirit are connected and truly affect one and another and also experienced the limitations of western medicine to treat complex health conditions. This was a very difficult time of my life.
After I overcame this period of my life, I developed a tremendous respect to human body, mind, and spirit, and my quest for natural, holistic medicine began. Years later, I completed the masters and doctorate degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I have now been practicing Chinese medicine and acupuncture and treating patients for 8 years.
I am passionate about not only treating various health conditions using natural medicine but also supporting each individual in their life journey where we can work on supporting optimal health and true expression of who they are.
Has it been a smooth road?
My journey to where I am now has not been smooth. I have faced many challenges but I have been blessed to have great support along the way and I have learned a lot and grew a lot.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Art of Chinese Healing story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a clinical director of our clinic “Art of Chinese Healing.” My friend Dr. Li is the founder of the clinic and together with her, we provide care for our patients and oversee, manage the operation of our clinic and the development of our clinic.
I specialize in women’s health and fertility, treating various gynecological issues, fertility support, menopause, pain, to psychoemotional issues. Anything to do with making our women feel better and happy! 🙂 I often collaborate with gynecologists and reproductive endocrinologists as well.
I am proud of our passion for the care we provide and the comprehensive healing and wellness program for our patients. We offer acupuncture, herbal therapy, bodywork, facial rejuvenation program, nutritional program, functional testing, energy work, tai chi and qi gong sessions. We nurture our clinic space as “a sanctuary” for our patients where they can feel relaxed and rejuvenated and support their health and wellness.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see our industry growing for the next decade. Many people are wanting and searching for natural medicine and becoming very aware and conscious of their body and health. I would love to see the collaboration of our field and western medical world. This is a challenge but must happen for a true integrative medicine to grow. I believe that is the way for the future of medicine and healing.
