Meet Krystal Hall of LA Discovery Candles in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Hall.

Krystal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Kansas City, Mo but always had the feeling that life should not be lived in one place. Looking for my next adventure, I packed up and drove to Los Angeles to see what opportunities may come. After adjusting to an entirely different lifestyle than that of the midwest, I realized that I really wanted to create something that speaks to the So-Cal laid back lifestyle I have grown to love.

I’ve always loved candles and the way they have the ability to change the atmosphere. I bought a DIY candle kit online I have been obsessed ever since. I started making a few candles for my friends to burn and they loved the way they smelled and the way they burn. LA Discovery Candles was born.

Has it been a smooth road?
I mostly have an “everything is figure-outable” attitude that has carried me through this entrepreneurship journey. I don’t think there has been a day since I started that I didn’t have to figure out something new. I do not have business background so everything is new to me. Things like web design and social media marketing definitely had me screaming in the pillow a few nights. Luckily for me, I have a support system around that I can ask questions and then there’s YouTube, which has questions in the search engine that I am embarrassed to show at times.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with LA Discovery Candles – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
LA Discovery Candles offers soy candles inspired by travel and the So-Cal lifestyle. Each candle is hand-poured with love in small batches. I pride myself on using high-quality ingredients with products from the US. Each scent is carefully blended and with the thought of changing atmospheres for the better. Whether you need a scent to transport you somewhere far a way or just want to unwind from the day at the office. The reusable jar and minimal design make these candles great for any home.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love about Los Angeles is that it is the world of opportunity. If you are willing to seek it out, you will find everything you need right here. You may have to fight through traffic and get up early to get there before everyone else but you will surely find what you need and everything you didn’t know you needed. The diversity of the city is one thing that has always intrigued me. Sometimes if I close my eyes I can imagine myself in another country because I am smelling different smells and hearing different languages.
