Today we’d like to introduce you to Krissy Marchante.
Krissy Marchante (DJ/Producer/MC) is a queer BIPOC DJ that has been spinning, scratching, and creating music since 2008. She has obtained a well-rounded knowledge of music production as a self-taught and defined artist. As a Bay Area native, Krissy established her name performing at clubs, festivals, SF Pride, and opening for artists such as Doja Cat and Cardi B. She has spent many years developing her craft and mentoring students and friends interested in becoming a DJ. Within the last few years, she has shifted much of her focus to music production. Her debut EP featuring a line up of all female artists has had an empowering impact on the bay area community. It reflects her long-standing desire to feature BIPOC women’s voices and perspectives in her work. Krissy is constantly perfecting the fusing of multiple genres into one unique and cohesive sound. Now relocated to LA, she has taken a new direction combining traditional house music with hip hop and soul. Her newest release, ‘Still Alive’ is a vibrant blend of these genres. She strives to impact the music scene with her collaborative creations.
Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve struggled in many ways, financially, mentally, physically, etc. one of my latest struggles has been shifting my DJing career from clubs to online w/ Twitch (Twitch.Tv/KrissyMarchante). Another struggle I’m currently working on is finding ways to actually show the world who I am, I needed to boost my confidence to realize I am the prize.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
After getting my foot in the house scene, I plan on uplifting my BIPOC community.
