Meet Kristeen LaBrot of Kristeen LaBrot Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristeen LaBrot.

Kristeen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been in the event industry for 20 years; this is my 10th year in the wedding industry. My background is in Advertising / Design. Event Planning and Advertising are actually very similar when you break it down. I took what I knew about client services, production schedules, budgets, etc. and applied it to event planning.

My big break into weddings was when I was offered a job from Project Wedding and Weddingbee. Project Wedding has closed down, but Weddingbee is still around. My job was to moderate and create content for the forums. Brides started to see me as a wedding industry expert and knew of my event planning background so a few asked me to help plan their wedding. I started planning part-time in 2018 and made it my full-time job in 2010. Since then I have done over 150 weddings.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, yes. I had to learn to set better client boundaries. Once I had those in place, the job started to become a little less stressful.

Please tell us about Kristeen LaBrot Events.
I specialize in wedding planning for couples with a non-traditional style. I do both event design and graphic design so I can really personalize my clients’ weddings down to the last details. Having the graphic design background sets me apart – a cohesive design from the flowers all the way to the table numbers is important to me.

I am most proud of our reputation. We won Best Planner: Los Angeles 3 times in California Wedding Day’s Best of awards – your peers are the ones who vote.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I had a clothing obsession. I used to change my clothes throughout the day – sorry, mom! That obsession never really went away. 🙂
