Meet Kine and Einy Paulsen of Kinfizz in Hancock Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kine and Einy Paulsen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kine and Einy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
About a decade ago, we arrived in Los Angeles from Norway to study at the University of Southern California. It was there we decided to start our first ever company, INGRI:DAHL. It was the world’s first company selling fashionable 3D glasses and our first taste of entrepreneurial life. From that experience, we learned so much. Some highlights were being featured by Vogue, Marie Claire, and Wired and having all the Hollywood celebrities sporting our glasses at the Great Gatsby premieres worldwide. Unfortunately, the 3D industry didn’t thrive and so selling accessories to that market was hard. However, people had noticed what we were up to and asked if we could help them with their marketing too. That started our next and current chapter, kinfizz – an LA-based management consulting company with a focus on marketing strategy.

Has it been a smooth road?
Entrepreneurial life is filled with ups and downs and that is why we love it. We can never predict one day from the next. And you never know when the best days will be. And we are talented at making negatives into something positive. We always say that any obstacle pushes us to be more innovative and our most creative solutions have come up this way. Being twins, we are lucky that we can help motivate each other in that aspect. Entrepreneurs learn to tackle the unsmooth road and we have learned to appreciate and expect bumps in the road.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kinfizz story. Tell us more about the business.
Our company, kinfizz, is a management consulting company based in Los Angeles. We specialize in helping companies with marketing strategy. Typically, we work with companies in some state of chaos, most often right after a merger or acquisition. We use our own proprietary method called blue-penciling. We have been lucky to work with companies in all five continents and many Forbes 500 companies such as HP, Sony, and Disney.

What sets us apart is that we come in and do our work with the intent of us leaving as soon as possible. Up to 80% of all mergers fail, and we believe it is due to a poor marketing strategy that aids false rumors and misinformation both externally and internally. Ideally, we leave as soon as three months after a deal closing. We come in as a third-party voice that gets two parties on opposing sides to talk to each and see that everyone wants the same thing. The situations we come into are typically chaotic, which is when we as a team thrive know how to navigate and calm it in a productive way. Our goal is to make the company that has hired us to shine and no one really knowing that kinfizz was even there.

There have been so many proud moments, but to us, our favorite moments are always when people start understanding each other and work together towards the same goals. Like when we recently helped uncover a solution that worked for a 300 people organization with offices in four different countries and 30 different states. We have been fortunate to work with some of the largest brands in the world and to have their stamp of approval always feels great. In addition, the two of us have been doing more public speaking engagements together and it is always fun to share the stage and our story.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The marketing landscape is ever-changing and keeps throwing companies more challenges on a daily basis. The marketing tactics that worked five years ago are now a time of the past. That paired with more remote workers and smaller and larger-scale mergers will require more systematic strategy planning for all companies. Both in terms of digital and offline efforts. Especially on the marketing side as it affects the company internally and externally. We, therefore, believe marketing strategy companies like kinfizz will keep growing in importance for companies worldwide to stay competitive and retain high-quality customers and employees.
