Meet Kim Nguyen of Kaden and Mimi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Nguyen.

Hi Kim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I don’t remember NOT planning something. In high school, if it wasn’t homecoming or a fundraiser, it was friends’ birthdays and attempted surprise parties for my mom. I spent my adult years planning and executing birthday parties, baby showers, fundraisers, corporate parties, team-building events and gift-giving – all for my own friends, family and co-workers. I was doing it on the side while working in sales, marketing and operations for big and small tech companies in the digital advertising space. I consistently heard that events I’ve planned are favorite memories of friends and colleagues. So after I had my daughter, with the support of my husband, I started Kaden and Mimi. I’ve been lucky to have met some amazing people while helping them create long-lasting memories celebrating special occasions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wish it was, but we all know that the grass is not always greener. Being in events, there are a lot of highs and lows. You have one chance to make it right because the end result is only that one particular event. I had another baby in 2020 during the pandemic, so I thought that maybe the timing worked itself out with zero events happening, but coming out of it has been hard. Business is not consistent and my bigger clients in the past have lost the budget to hire out. Being a one-woman show, it is hard to prove to people that you’re capable of everything I do. I have so much gratitude to my clients who gave me a chance and trusted me. On hard days, I at least know that I have never let any of them down.

We’ve been impressed with Kaden and Mimi, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We help people and companies organize the chaos of planning events. Creating special personal memories and impactful business gatherings is what we do best. Whether it’s a small intimate dinner party or a large corporate gathering, we care about making the event the best possible experience for everyone involved. We help with ideas and provide suggestions to make things easier and also save money whenever possible. We take care of all the small, tedious details and arrangements so that the client doesn’t have to. We make every effort to understand the exact needs of each client and act as a partner so the event they imagine is the event they get. What sets us apart is that we’re small but nimble and resourceful. We want to build lifelong relationships with our clients!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I am so incredibly lucky to have the family and friends that I have. The support is overwhelming, it truly is. I say that I am a one-woman show, but behind me is a brilliant, supportive husband, amazing parents that have showed me how hard work can pay off and friends who should have cheerleading uniforms because I feel them cheering me on every day.
