Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Nicole.
Kia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
From a young age, I’ve always had a creative vision as it relates to style and fashion. As a Louisiana native, my personal style has always been influenced by my roots and environment – from music to culture to local traditions, my style is inspired by the things that are most familiar to me.
Has it been a smooth road?
Since 2014, I’ve branded myself as an illustrator, using garments to help others tell their story. Many people think that styling is for the rich and famous or only for special occasions. But style is a tool and should be used as such. My mission is to help individuals assess, develop, and tailor their personal style to project the truest representation of who they are.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kia Nicole Style story. Tell us more about the business.
In this short time period, my style clientele has spanned from young professionals and entrepreneurs to authors, athletes and artists, proving that style is applicable and relevant to any brand, both personal and professional.
I credit my mother and grandmother for my style. Really, all of the women in my family – they all have great style. But my mom always encouraged my creativity and supported anything I wanted to do in and with fashion.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think technology will certainly continue to impact and change the fashion industry as a whole. But definitely as it relates to styling, I see more and more personal stylists offering virtual styling, it allows us to reach clients that we might not otherwise be able to reach.
I’m not yet a YouTuber but I also think the video will also play a huge role in the future of fashion styling as well – online style courses, shopping tricks and tutorials, etc. Bloggers and influencers will continue to press to the front of the line in the fashion industry. Consumers look to them, not only for style tips but also where to shop, what to buy, what’s trending, etc.
