Meet Kevin Torres of Spply&Dmnd / No13ody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Torres.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was originally a dancer/ choreographer I was always into fashion. I didn’t know what direction I wanted to go but I knew I wanted to start a business. I came from an area which was either gang or sports, I picked neither as I initially just started my own brand named no13ody (nobody) it was fun creating different things for people from jackets to writing on shoes to start off with.

No13ody means staying humble, starting from nothing and being able to create whatever you want but remembering where you came from. My friends around me are all talented in their own lane, just knew we had to create something. Now no13ody is under the umbrella of Spply&Dmnd, our flagship store is in the heart of melrose ave.

Spply&dmnd x No13ody also holds free dance trainings as a way to give back to those that want to dance without worrying about paying. Any level is invited, it’s something I always enjoy being able to give back. Usually hold them every other month, just keep a look out.

A huge shoutout to everyone who was helped me start off from scratch, my Family, Big guy, Grams, Leo, Ernie, Fizzo, Romeo, Daniel, Nelson and everyone else that has supported me and this journey. Thank You!

Has it been a smooth road?
The struggle is not knowing at first, the support won’t come right away, self-doubt, thinking your ideas aren’t good enough. The endless hours of sleep just thinking about what’s next? Sometimes feeling lonely because of how much time you have to figure things out, but if you believe in it, my only suggestion is being patient not giving up. Life is a beautiful struggle and it’s filled with lessons and not all of them are great but these lessons will help you get to your goals. Building a business requires so much of your energy, and it requires your best every single day. The struggle will never be smooth but the results will always be worth it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Spply&Dmnd / No13ody – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Spply & Dmnd is a one stop shop, from music producing to graphic design to consulting to brand awareness to just being a lifestyle. In the company, I’m mostly in charge of the merchandise/print. I specialize in networking, style, and finding whatever you need if I don’t know how to do it, I’ll know the people that can. I’m known for helping in any situation. I enjoy being able to bring value to the situation, just to get things done. I’m proud of being apart of the company because a year ago I wouldn’t imagine being in the middle of Melrose, having a pop up, selling our own merchandise at real street festival, meeting some of the heavy hitters in the game, and to be able to do this with your own friends is probably what makes it even better. Being able to collab with West coast customs, Death row, Steven Cannon & having our merch in 574 LAB in Colombia is awesome also.

I disliked working a 9-5, but now this don’t feel like work, I could work all day and be happy because it’s something I enjoy doing. Honestly, what sets us apart is being diverse in many departments.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Growing up in Los Angeles is truly an experience I’m in the heart of it and if you don’t know what time to leave you’re probably going to be late. Knowing your back streets is a must, the lifestyle is great. I truly love living here, but LA is a fast place to live, everyone is always in a rush. Overall I love my city, Los Angeles will always be home.
