Meet Kevin Ramsey and Jason Facey of I’m So Facey Dancehall Fit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Ramsey and Jason Facey.

Kevin and Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Jason and I met in 2018 through one of my sons and business partners at Icons Brand Management Group (IBMG). Jason was looking for career development guidance. We connected immediately. I genuinely admire Jason’s work ethic, determination to excel, and humanity as a young artist. Jason is a native son of Jamaica and is a sought-after industry dancer, choreographer, group fitness motivator, recording artist, and social media influencer. Over 25+ million people have viewed his dance videos, comedy skits and danced to his music. Jason has performed all over the world, working with some of the music industry’s top acts, including Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Pharell, Chris Brown, Kayne West, and Major Lazer, to name a few. He is the founder of I’m So FACEY (Faithfully Accomplishing Challenges Every Year), a lifestyle company dedicated to providing inspiration and motivation through dancehall. To date, Jason has released three singles, “Phuckery,” “Walk & Whine,” and “Rock and Dip,” all produced by IBMG’s gifted collaborator Josiah “JOTT” Noray.

After watching a video of one of Jason’s dancehall class, and seeing the joy on people’s faces, I suggested we build upon his love for dancehall and fitness. This epiphany was born I’m So Facey Dancehall Fit. The goal was to deliver content to our Facey Fit Family digitally, anytime, and anywhere. We started last June 2019 by first creating monthly live dancehall pop up events at Evolution Studios in North Hollywood. Each month grew larger participation while developing the fitness program to shoot. Buzz quickly spread throughout the state and country, and Jason was contracted to present I’m So Facey Dancehall Fit for special engagement celebrations at Los Angeles Park-sponsored outdoors events, the International Multicultural Fest in Austin, and the Umoja Music Festival in Oakland.

In mid-February 2020, we shot the 5 part workout series. Then COVID-19 hit, and we quickly pivoted the I’m So Facey Dancehall Fit experience to the virtual space through Zoom. In April and May, a free virtual Dancehall Fit Zoom class was offered every week to our community. We reached thousands of people worldwide and continued our mission to help people achieve their fitness objectives and life aspirations. At the beginning of June, we launched Phase 1 of the platform and program – www.imsofaceydancehallfit.com. As we continue to scale the business and grow the content offerings, we will be implementing Phase 2 mid-August 2020, and Phase 3 by the beginning of 2021. Since our launch, I’m So Facey has garnered the attention of schools and organizations that seek to reimagine and bring the power of fitness and wellness to their institutions.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The challenges that most small businesses encounter are access to capital and defining and executing a strong marketing strategy. We are constantly re-evaluating our mission as we define our niche audience. More importantly, having a team with trusted and loyal partners (Jason Facey, Kieran Ramsey, and Kimati Ramsey ) makes confronting challenges less arduous. Experience teaches us that the path to a better company is paved with the challenges we overcome.
