Today we’d like to introduce you to Keshawna Pritchett.

Keshawna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey began in November 2017. My dad gifted me my first camera and equipment for my birthday. I absolutely love taking pictures! Whether it’s in front of the camera or behind I’ve always had a passion for capturing precious moments and life long memories. My creative vision leads me to my dream job of becoming a photographer. Once I set my mind towards doing something there is no stopping me! I am all gas and no brakes! Since then, I jumped in full speed and took the initiative to learn about the photography business as a whole. I am a self-taught artist who is always striving for greatness. so that it can speak through my work. I absolutely LOVE when my clients are amazed and happy with the images from their shoot.

My friends and family inspire me to reach for my goals and don’t stop until I achieve them all. I am proud of my journey thus far and look forward to seeing my business thrive. My keen eye towards detail shines bright through my vibrant photos. My vision for my business is for my clients to leave beyond satisfied with a memorable experience. Having a business is always a challenge, but it is very rewarding nonetheless . I am blessed to be able to do something I love and I look forward to making many more dreams come true. Also, CapturedByMyKe will travel out of California to capture those perfect moments for my clients! I pride myself on being an amazing black female photographer in the game.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road thats for sure! There have definitely been highs and lows but overall, I am extremely proud of my work ethic in this journey. Starting a business can be easy but maintaining it however, is where the real work comes into play. It is fascinating to look back on how I started and where I am at today. Every day I am focused on learning something new to better my craft. I am my worse critic because I want my images to be captivating and showcase my unique aesthetic. I am truly excited to see how my business will grow and the changes that will be made within the next five years! It is so amazing to be able to create and do what I love even while working at a bridal boutique. It can be challenging working a 9-5 job, still I make it happen no matter what! Our dreams are worth every sacrifice possible!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a California based photographer that specializes in boudoir, maternity, and portrait photography. I absolutely love shooting weddings and events as well. My favorite style to shoot is boudoir because it allows women to tap into their sensual side. Every woman deserves to shine and live in the moment. Boudoir is much more than shooting in lingerie! It is the art of empowering the mind, body and soul. Women are able to express themselves, Conquer their fears, love thyself, and drop a few jaws in the process. It is exploring different movements that you picture within and being free to showcase them through the use of a camera lens. I am amazed when my clients believe in their worth and beauty. I want women all over the world to get the opportunity to experience the art of boudoir photography because it is simply mind-blowing!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I honestly thought I was going to be a dancer. I did NOT envision that I would be growing a photography business but here I am taking on the world. I started dancing at a small age until I was in college when I injured my knee. I decided not to pursue dancing further but I still absolutely love dancing ( just not professionally). I love to dance where ever I am whether that be at work, grocery store or the mall. My love for dance will never change because it shines within my character.

My other passion next to photography is traveling. I enjoy traveling within the United States and outside. I love meeting new people and learning about new cultures. My most memorable trip was in 2017 when I traveled to Dubai for my birthday where I photographed many beautiful beaches, landmarks and people. It was truly AMAZING and I definitely can’t wait to return!
