Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenny Routt.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am an Illustrator and Designer from Florida. I went to art school in Florida then moved to New York in 2016. I lived there for about a year working in Graphic Design and freelancing as an Illustrator. A year ago my girlfriend and I relocated to Los Angeles where I have continued to freelance as an Illustrator and Designer.
Please tell us about your art.
I make zines, comics, editorial illustrations, logos, photo composites, illustrations for children’s books, album covers, pretty much anything. I like my work to have a definite mood whether it be funny or intense or anywhere in between. Mostly everything I make starts off as a drawing done by hand, usually along with water color and other traditional media like ink, paint, and pencil. I want people to get something from looking at my work and enjoy looking at it as well.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
My advice for other artists is to pay attention to contracts, always have a kill fee in your contracts, and never do business without a contract.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I’m the most active on Instagram, That’s the best place to keep up with me regularly @kennyroutt
The best way to support my work is with referrals and spreading my name.
