Meet Kendall Reid and Elizabeth Steinberg of Martian & Sons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Reid and Elizabeth Steinberg.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kendall and Elizabeth. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
We (founders Kendall Reid and Elizabeth Steinberg) felt that the digital agency model didn’t make much sense. It was bloated and not terribly original. We wanted to bring a new perspective to digital content development.

We wanted to create a place where all types of creative people could come together to help build experiences in the digital space. Armed with this idea, they reached out to production executive Drew Albenze to help shape the production POV. The very first job completed by M&S was a photo shoot that included a drone chase and a military, machine-gun-adorned Hummer.

From there, M&S has done everything from attaching eight 360 degree cameras to a daredevil’s rocket, filled the largest projection mapped theater in Las Vegas for Microsoft (as well as all the LED screens in the T-Mobile arena), and brought a virtual 3D soldier to life for the Department of Defense.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
All roads have obstacles, and this one has had its share. The biggest obstacle for a small boutique creative team is business flow.

We decided from the beginning, that this business needed to be sustainable without external funding or loans, which puts us in a strong position of ownership and independence but also creates some instability.

We are also at the mercy of clients’ budgets and business cycles, but thoughtful planning and being open to all opportunities has helped us maintain steady growth.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Martian & Sons – what should we know?
Martian & Sons is unique in that we value the exploration. It’s not a question of “can we do it?” It’s a question of “how do we do it?” That attitude is what we take the most pride in.

We have Emmy-award-winning design talent and a group of digital developers ready to tackle the challenges. We say we make experiences, and those experiences come in the form of multi-format video, mobile apps, AR / MR / XR, web apps, and more.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Creativity and communication, simply. We are only as good as the ideas, and we love coming up with inventive ideas.
