Meet Kelly Wirkus of The Hair Lounge salon in Yorba Linda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Wirkus.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I graduated beauty school 17yrs ago. I always knew that I wanted to do hair since I was a child. I have very curly and unruly hair. I always was so mesmerized my peoples long straight silky hair. That was probably the beginning to loving the craft of hairstyling. Fast forward to now, my dreams of doing hair had become true.

After years of hard work, my heart had grew fond of the idea of opening up my own salon. Some called my idea crazy but I called it being determined.

We have just celebrated our six years in Business and I’m ready to celebrate many more to come. I’m so grateful to be able to be working with the most amazing and talented group of women., as well as my son that is the barber in the shop. My goal for my salon is to always know that every client that comes to the Lounge, that they will feel very relaxed in this classy ambiance that has been created for a comfortable environment. I always know that each client that leaves the salon they leave very happy because our stylist is amazing at what they do. We would love to have you come and visit our salon.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of the obstacles that I had faced in the Business is to know that people will always come and go. Different seasons happen all the time in everyone’s life’s and sometimes that means that they are called to move on to different places. I do not look at myself as being a boss of my salon I feel like I’m more of a host to my coworkers offering them a comfortable place to work. In a place that I would call my second home. With that said I love being able to provide a beautiful spot for all of us to enjoy. Whether it’s for my coworkers or our amazing clients.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Hair Lounge salon – what should we know?
The Hair Lounge salon is here for all your hair needs. Whether it’s a balayage, baby lights, highlight, color, men or women’s haircuts. If you are getting married, we offer hair and makeup as well. Prom style makeup for a special accession. Hair extensions. We are known for doing amazing hair. I’m proud to say that our yelp reviews can vogue for that. I feel like what sets our salon apart from others is our salon style. We were the first salon to create an open concept salon in the OC Almost as if you were walking into a New York loft style building.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have to give my husband the credit In supporting me in my career goals and dreams. He has been my rock. My five children have also been my biggest fans. They have always been so patient through the highs and Lows of running a busy Business. I am also grateful to my brother who was able to help build me such a beautiful salon, and to have a mother who has always been a Business owner herself. She has taught me so much about the Business world. Hard work and perseverance can make things happen. I am so blessed to be able to work with a group of amazing talented people every day, and of course we are so grateful for all of our amazing clients and future clients to come.
