Meet Kay Gabriel of ModelsProject

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay Gabriel.

Kay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in New York City. I didn’t have much growing up but I was pulled into the fashion/ entertainment and beauty industry really early on in my life. With losing my mom at the tender age of 11 and not growing up with my father around I knew that growing up was going to be rough so I had to find ways to channel all my energy. Doing music, dancing, and modeling was always something that made me happy and I wanted to share that feeling with others. Especially because coming up no one helped me, no one gave me advice on what to do, and I came into lots of complications in my life… this industry can take a toll on you if you’re not smart, so I wanted to be able to help those who might have felt the same way as me.

Now as owner of ModelsProject, I created this company in hopes to bring upcoming creatives together to create magic on set. While helping young models with portfolio building, designers with getting more exposure to their brand, photographers and makeup artists building their portfolio as well we have become the “go to” agency for all models wanting to work and be prepared for the fashion world. We not only do portfolio building, we offer runway classes, powershoots, and memberships for those wanting more consistent work. We also offer social media managing, content creation, agency prep & more! We are the perfect company to help you get your foot in the beauty industry doors. Yes we highlight working with models more but We also work with actors/actresses, photographers, makeup and hair artists, dancers, etc…. we make sure you all have resumes, comp cards, portfolios and we cross promote on our social media and publish most of our work @ModelsProjectMagazine

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being an entrepreneur is a struggle within itself. Income is always up and down when branching out on your own. Setting prices, having people show up and pay on time. Marketing and branding to the right audience. Little struggles like that make it harder but worth it once you see your company exceeding your own expectations. Never give up, stay consistent and believe in your brand/company work.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with ModelsProject – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We mostly help models with:
– Portfolio building
– Casting in their areas (LA, NYC, ATL, MIAMI)
– Event invites
– Social media content
– Comp cards

Our proudest moments are when we see our models and creatives flourish and work with bigger brands and actually get signed to agencies that have good intentions for our models. Watching our creatives work on sets, fashion shows is always a plus.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have a big team in New York City and in Los Angeles … we are ready to touch base in Atlanta & Miami next!
