Meet Katina Fields of KFields PR Agency and UTOPATT Consulting Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katina Fields.

Hi Katina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My career started in Florence, SC as an Intern at WPDE NewsChannel 15. After a few months of interning, I was offered the opportunity to produce the weekend news on a Part-Time basis. Within a few months, I was promoted to the 10PM News Producer and was assigned my first special reporting assignment. After three years there, I moved to other News Stations in the Carolinas as a News Producer and Special Assignment Reporter. My 7-year career in the news industry provided me opportunities to network and meet many others in my profession. It also allowed me to transition smoothly into Executive Management positions in the Public Relations sector. This career move inspired me to open my own public relations business now known as KFields PR Agency.

Over the years, my educational achievements and professional advancements allowed me to secure several jobs which granted me access to work alongside many actors, music artists and other types of entertainers. This motivated me to open a Music Consulting Agency known as UTOPATT Consulting Agency.

While networking at an event, I met Actor/Comedian J Anthony Brown and persuaded him to allow me to be his Publicist. After a few years of working with me and understanding my passion, business sense, dedication to completing a job and making sure it’s done right, my no-nonsense approach, and Integrity; he hired me to manage his comedy club – The J Spot Comedy Club- Home of The MoFo, a popular place for A List comedians to come and perform in Los Angeles, CA.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There’s always challenges and bumps in the road to success. I was a single mom raising kids, taking continuing education classes, networking and working a full-time job while starting a full-time business. Trying to be in two places at one time was always an issue. My son was a full-time high school music student, and my daughter was just a toddler at the time. I was always a Mom, a Student and a Career woman trying to manage it all.

It was also difficult in the first year of my Pubilc Relations Business. I was branding my name and business while trying to gain the trust of celebrities to put their brand and image in my hands to manage, but all of my obstacles made me a successful, savvy business woman.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I currently have two business. The first business is called UTOPA~TT (pronounced: ooh-ta-pah) Consulting Agency which, is a Management Consulting company for Music Artist and Entertainers. KFields PR Agency is my second business, which is a Public Relations Agency, and as I mentioned earlier I’m the General Manager of J Anthony Brown’s The J Spot Comedy Club.

I’m known as a Celebrity Publicist/Public Relations Consultant because of my clientele. I’m also an Artist Consultant/Manager for Music Artist, and I just added Producer/Director to my title as I’m the Executive Producer for my TV Reality Show I just finished shooting, which is now in the editing process.

I’m proud of my humble beginings and how my business has grown. I started my career journey by networking and meeting entertainers and celebrities and basically growing my contact list of who’s who in the industry. I went to every movie screening, party, red carpet event and social event in and out of town just to mingle and pass my business cards out. In the years I’ve been in LA I’ve increased my outreach not only to celebrities, but also to business entities, studio heads and non-profits.

My services include working with actors, filmmakers, athletes, music artist, agents, and publicity offices to manage all logistical requirements for international press activity in the US and abroad; including set visits, tours, film festivals, premieres, red carpets and press junkets. I also develop and provide strategic creativity and measurable results to clients that position their brand in the marketplace as a reliable, trusted icon. One of my top services is generating positive press and media exposure for celebrity clients to ensure that their public reputation remain untarnished. Writing press releases, statements and maintain media relations with trade media reporters is my second top service. Designing and coordinating publicity events and materials, creating promotional materials, and generating publicity for clients by pitching story ideas to magazines, radio shows, national TV, news outlets, newspapers, podcast, and bloggers/influencers are also key services I provide. Lastly, I also manage and create effective publicity campaigns and author tours, provide digital and social media management/content creation and website management.

What matters most to you? Why?
Family is what matters the most to me. I am very close to my five sisters, three brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and my kids. My siblings and I always try to celebrate holidays and birthdays together, call each other on a weekly basis (some on a daily basis) and we pray for each other.

My family always keep me grounded and calm. They will always offer constructive criticism, give me financial advice, sound life advice, protect me, and show me love. I have learned over the years that friends come and go, but family will always be there during the good times and through the troubled times.
