Today we’d like to introduce you to Kassy Jimenez and Joyce Marcellus.
Show Founders Joyce Marcellus and Kassy Jimenez met in 2016 on a social media live streaming platform. Since then they have strived to create an online community full of forward-thinking, creative and positive bakers. Wanting to create an event to finally meet face to face they put on a Cake Bar Social meet up in Austin TX. It was a success!!!
Since then they have continued to grow their individual cake business’ by traveling to cake shows, teaching and competing for all while being separated by 1400 miles!! And in between all that managed to go on Food Networks Cake Wars and win! 6 months later they were back in the studio to film Cake Wars Champs! With so many amazing things happening they still managed to keep building a positive community via Sweets University.
Now their next venture is taking all of their past success and put it into a massive one of a kind Cake Show called The Cake Bar Cake Show!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been smooth because with great success comes a lot of good and bad attention. Since day one we have had a lot of people try to sabotage our success. But we have managed to not feed their jealousy but show them why we do what we do and are successful.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Cake Bar Cake Show story. Tell us more about the business.
Join us for the first ever Cake Show in Long Beach, California. Hosted by Food Network Cake War Winners Joyce Marcellus and Kassy Jimenez. This is a one of a kind cake show that focus’ on the art of sugar and the makers behind the sugar. This show is an innovative event that has classes that are taught by the leading professional artist in the sweets industry, top retailers who will be vending all the essential tools needed to create edible art, a sweets competition judged by Nicholas Lodge, Karen Portaleo, Rebekah Wilbur, and Jarid Altmark.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The luck that has played out for us is finding each other! Kassy lost her grandmother to cancer and Joyce lost her father to cancer. We have endured heartache, lost, and pain. We have suffered abuse both physically and mentally as children. Our friendship is something of a storybook. With lots of turbulence and love, while managing to maintain a strong bond while running businesses together.
