Meet Kashyap Khetia and Jaspreet Singh of AV Canvas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kashyap Khetia and Jaspreet Singh.

Kashyap and Jaspreet, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We live in an age where TV adverts are being drained of their power. Most of us now watch Netflix or Amazon Prime. When we do tune in to regular TV, we’re fast-forwarding all the adverts. Advertisers are beginning to realize that their budgets are better spent elsewhere – online and on digital mediums. Digital signage is a platform that is greatly reaping the fruits of this development. Companies want to reach audiences – not in the hour or two they mindlessly spend in front of the TV set each night – but at work, when they’re out shopping, going to university, even visiting the dentist or a vet. As species today, we are used to looking at screens. And that’s where AV Canvas comes in to play.

Jaspreet and I, both come from different walks of life, I come from a middle-class family and from a very small town in Tanzania called, Tanga. I was 17 when I moved here for further studies and got my bachelors in Finance & Marketing. Jas on the other hand comes from India and pursued his engineering in Calgary, Canada. We both shared a passion for Audio-Video electronics and always saw a need to do more than what we were doing. Developing electronic hardware as a product manager for fast paced commercial spaces such as conference rooms, medical offices and digital signage kiosks were just a few markets we served at our previous company we worked for.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a small business is always a challenge and making sure it sustains – is even more difficult, ask any entrepreneur and they will tell you. Our biggest hurdle still is grasping our markets attention as to who we are and how we serve locally in LA.

We have been fetching our customers with constant network of friends and social media who has needs to advertise and bring revenue through repeated businesses like Juice it up stores and other franchises and some mom and pop restaurants which needed simple menu boards for their food advertising. Being less profitable as we have some obstacles to pass before we gain traction in this market. Some of the barriers we are already experiencing is keeping a sustained growth of clients paying for monthly services. These are much needed services which include remote monitoring for safety and security, updating content weekly or monthly based on branding or seasonal advertising and managing their hardware to make sure they are optimal.

Please tell us about AV Canvas.
“We design experiences which allow businesses to connect to customers in extraordinary ways. Down the street and soon around the world” says Kashyap Khetia, the co-founder of The letters “AV” stands for Audio and Visual (meaning video) with the addition of Canvas as the background against which the art, messaging and visual communication unfold for our audiences. AV Canvas is a pure business-to-business company which provides cost-effective visual messaging in the form of digital signage. We can remotely manage the ads, content and messaging which businesses provide to us with ultimate security.

We are known for creating an all-in-one solution for B2B customers which entails story-telling from brands such as Juice it Up to smaller restaurants advertising their menus on digital boards.

In short, we are a digital signage service company which helps you create messaging and content management with hardware and services.

What really sets us apart is that, we are small, nimble, very competitive in the market and service driven – always putting an extra mile for our clients who do business with us.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had a chance to start over then I would have started with content creation and management first and then would have move to selling hardware for the displays. The reason is less investment in the beginning of the startup and you would know your cost analysis.
