Meet Karis Gant of Victorious Fitness – Train With KG in Downtown and North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karis Gant.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from college, Cal State University, Northridge, I transitioned into the “real world” where I worked as an Executive Legal Assistant for a major Television company in their International Business Affairs department. Like most sedentary jobs, I found myself gaining weight and became very uncomfortable and unhappy with my body. That’s when I decided to make a change for myself. After finding myself again, I inspired a lot of friends and family to join my journey to live a healthy active lifestyle. After helping a lot of friends and family get healthy and fit, I realized health and fitness was a passion of mine. It is one thing I would continue to do even if money didn’t exist. After five years of working in Corporate America and balancing my passion, I made the decision to work for myself and take the health and fitness industry on as a career full time.

Has it been a smooth road?
I definitely wouldn’t call it a smooth road but what journey with such a great reward is? What I will say is I believe that when you are aligned with your purpose unexplainable things seem to fall into place. One of my biggest lessons working for myself has been learning to take a day off and create personal boundaries within my business. At one point, I would work whenever the opportunity presented itself and I would find myself getting burnt out and crashing. My body would force me to slow down.

Another challenge, has been realizing Entrepreneurship can be a lonely road especially when you are the only one in your circle of friends that is pursuing such a lifestyle. Finding likeminded individuals has been key to my mental health. I began to open myself up to new people who are also dreamers and have made some amazing friendships in the process.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Victorious Fitness – Train With KG – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I really appreciate that. Well, I am a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor with a holistic approach. My motto is “Train the Body, Master the Mind.” Although strength and conditioning is my specialty, I practice bridging the gap between how we think and what we do. One thing my client’s practice is gratitude and positive mind shifting. Before we start the physical training, I have them do a mental warm-up to get them in a positive state of mind. The goal is to have a positive approach to the work so instead of going into the gym thinking of all the things you don’t like or wish to change about your body, we focus on the things we appreciate about our body and the positive changes we are and will make.

What I’m most proud of are the genuine relationships that are made through this very personal journey. I love my clients and I love bringing like-minded people together to connect with.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love most about LA is that it is a melting pot of dreamers. You find so many people that think outside of the box and have a strong desire for more than a house, family and 2.5 kids. It’s a city of people who desire to shift the culture in their own right. What I like least is the cost of living. Man, it’s so expensive to live well in LA. I kid you not, the 1st feels like it comes up so fast (haha) I’m like didn’t we JUST pay bills. 😩
