Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Klimtchuk.
Karina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up across various parts of Europe instilled in me a very broad and holistic sense of the world. I spent much of my time traveling and learning in great depth about many facets of life. My enthusiastic spirit, extremely high standards and a natural draw to the healing arts led me to study and work in various fields: Yoga, Psychology, Energy Healing, Philosophy, Law and Education. All those roads finally came together when I was perched atop Cathedral Rock in Sedona, AZ. My meditation revealed to me a black onyx table with a silver needle falling onto it in slow motion. I felt my heart’s calling and ventured to become a practitioner of Chinese Medicine. My passion for this medicine brought me to China, Vietnam and Japan where I saw just how powerful and effective it is. Thanks to encouragement from clients and referrals from various doctors and professionals, my dream became a reality. I now operate an integrated medical and wellness practice, incorporating all the modalities I’ve mastered along the way. I am participating in the advancement of integrative medicine by serving as an herbalist and technical supervisor at Emperor’s College clinic. I am also furthering my education by pursuing a Doctoral degree specializing in neurology and the effects of acupuncture on mental health.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“A smooth sea never made a skillful mariner!” I remember a time, when I was really struggling, trying to maintain my health. The incredible pressure of 5 years of intense studies, wrapping up clinical residency in an integrative cancer treatment center, spearheading and co-founding a study-abroad program in Japan, and on top of it all, having to prepare for the very demanding California licensing exams – a trusted mentor looked straight into my weary eyes and said, “You’ve got what it takes, but it’s gonna take all you’ve got”. My heart softened and I knew what I was going through was a necessary initiation, in a way.
Over the years I have come to embrace the struggle as I see the successes of the fruits of my labor in the form of excellent clinical results and satisfied clients. I am thrilled to see continued referrals from my patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals, and the evolution of my practice from the ground up to what is now an integrative medical center.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Kai Wellness is always expanding its scope of practice and we aim to continue to do so! We are currently collaborating with a very large hospital system in the effort to bring Acupuncture into the mainstream rehabilitation unit. This would follow the time tested and highly effective model of the true integrative hospitals throughout Asia and help pioneer a movement in this country toward better healthcare for our communities.
