Meet Kari of Kickinitwkari in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari.

Kari, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always done YouTube. I was known for my vlogs in high school. Last year around summer time I decided to take another route that I felt would last longer for the future, something I could stand on. I got to thinking and came up with the idea to interview artists. I really don’t know where it steamed from…I asked a lot of questions and talked a lot already lol so I felt like this was the perfect path for me to take on. I was very confident in it and I couldn’t wait to execute it! I spent all day on my laptop researching things and coming up with catchy names and “Kickinitwkari” just made sense. I ran it by my brothers and told them my ideas and what I wanted to pursue with it and they were very supportive and told me get on it and no matter what do not stop and be consistent with it and that’s exactly what I did. I was already around that industry a lot and my friends were artists so i guess you can say I had a little head start but just because we were friends didn’t mean they were just gonna do it, it had to make sense. The very first interview I did was with recording artist after that I felt confident enough to go after artist like splurge, then Stunna4vegas, azchike, Kalan.frfr, UnotheActivist, Lil Keed, Lil got it, etc and the list just keeps going. The more interviews I did the more people I met and soon enough things started to takeoff for me.

Has it been a smooth road?
There has definitely been many struggles along the way. Dealing with different camera guys because they didn’t film correctly or the video would come back and not be as good. Every time I would plan to drop a video the day of everything would go completely left. I would have to start over just to put out the perfect content for my viewers. Being that I wasn’t established yet I would have to deal with interviews getting canceled/rescheduled last minute. We would have a set time and the artist won’t show up or be running super behind. There has been lots of bumps on the road but that never stopped me as you can see I’m still going and things have eventually got done. It’s really all about having patience and knowing that your not always going to get a “yes”. There is multiple times that I would reach out to artist and they would turn me down or not take me serious. I had to get a manager so that they would be able to speak for me in a more professional way so I could be able to lock things in better.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I interview artist/ influencers/ actors, etc that are all on the brink of superstardom. I strive to get an insight of their lives behind the music. I’m not like any other interviewer, I connect with the artist and build more of a friendship with all. A lot of people will tell you that I am very genuine, I’m not a “clout chaser”. I am proud that people feel that they are able to be themselves around me and feel comfortable opening up. I plan to expand tremendously and get into different things in this industry. My dream is to have my own tv show. I wanna use my platform to shine light on important things, give back to the community, help young girls with learning how to be their own lady boss and also to give people hope that if I did it, you can too!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
LA is the best place to start off. There is a lot of networking to do out here. I have gotten a lot of things done in La and I’ve ran into artist on the street before and got an interview with them like that. Living in this busy city motivates you to get up and do something with your life. If you look around you can see others accomplishing so much and it makes you ask yourself “why can’t I do that too?” All you really need is a plan and you need to stick to it no matter how many rejections you get or no matter how discouraging it can get out here. You may look and see that everyone is getting it so easily but just remember nobody posts their struggle. If I didn’t say earlier all the struggles I’ve been through with my interviews you would have never knew.
