Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalvin Trevonte.
Kalvin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dancing when I was ten yrs old with my twin brother and little sister after my eldest brother past away. It started as an activity to get our mind off of his passing, but that quickly turned into an absolute joy my brother and I! After I graduated high school I started training hardcore in dance to start my career!
So from the age of 18, I’ve competed in countless dance competitions to tv shows to music videos and now (at 25 yrs) I am on a world tour dancing doing what I love!!!
Definitely hasn’t been easy because in my industry of dance someone of my size isn’t really accepted! So to have done what I have and am still doing, I have to take pride in that as humbly as I can!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road.
I’ve had to fight through discrimination of my size absolutely and still fight through it to this day!
And also balancing school/work/and just life.
Tell us more about your work.
I am a professional dancer, Designer, Artist, Aspiring actor! (Majored in theatre in college).
I am most proud of the fact that I can easily stay grounded in the industry that I’ve chosen and the multiple talents that I try to improve every day
I think what sets me apart from others is that I look very much different than someone you’d expect to be doing what I do but I bring just the same if not more power and talent.
