Meet Kailee Chase of theCHERRYBOMBart in Fresno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kailee Chase.

Kailee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My first love was soccer. When I was 13, I got two incurable knee injuries from the sport and was forced to stop playing. At this time is when I started playing with paint instead. It is not the painting itself, but the creative freedom that I instantly fell in love with. I began by using paint, brush strokes, and random objects to tell a story in an abstract manner and have continued to do so throughout my artistic journey. I like my pieces to be obviously imperfect and show beauty through trial, error, and struggle. It is important to be able to recognize the good in the mess of things.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This road has been a mixture of things. Some struggles I have dealt with are things like insecurity, uncertainty, and doubt. Although, I have found that even if I try to, I can’t pull away from creating and making art. It has become a part of me and has held my hand in my lowest of times. Getting lost in a piece of work is my favorite thing to do as it is the only way I know how to take what is in the inside of me, and turn it into something you could call beautiful.

Please tell us about theCHERRYBOMBart.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was an energetic and excited kid. I lived and breathed playing soccer until I couldn’t anymore. I was a huge meat eater for my size and age, which is ironic because I am now vegetarian. Red has always been my favorite color and I’ve always been obsessed with monarch butterflies. As a child, I never realized my creative urges until I actually began painting.
