Today we’d like to introduce you to Justyce Reliford.
Justyce, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Justyce I would classify myself as a music and trend connoisseur from Los Angeles, California specializing in creative content production, music marketing while also squeezing time to have a modeling career. I knew from an early age that I wanted to go into the field of communication however, I had no idea how someone so all over the place could find a career conducive to all my passions.
I attended Howard University for broadcast journalism and audio production where I fell in love with the world of production. At the core of being a producer is my love of storytelling whether that be through styling various up and coming music artists, or working on creative marketing concepts for brands. This led to the development of my creative collective Duffy which means In your bag and defining your lane. I, along with a close friend decided to create a brand that highlights the multi-facets of creatives across the country through the brand. My goal is to be a positive influence by producing content through the vast facets of fashion, music, and art.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road at all. My spiritual journey over the past four years has been tremendous. I owe everything I have to God. I thank my parents for instilling such core values that have created my foundation that has never allowed me to give up even though adversities such as losing my scholarship in college, the No’s, the financial instability pursuing my dreams. In all of that, I had to stand firm on the purpose God has for my life and how I am to be used by him to spread light to all that I can possibly touch. The biggest lesson this year for me has been that faith begins where knowledge ends. I cannot rely on my own understanding but that of God. With that I know I will prosper in anything I do.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think luck played a part in my business. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Nothing is by chance. Every person I have come into contact, everyone who has helped me along the way was placed in my life divinely. I will say that positioning is key. If you are not prepared you will not reap the fruits of that opportunity. I make sure I am prepared for any and everything.
