Meet Justin Hanassab of Miracle Mile Law Group in Mid-City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Hanassab.

Justin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was fortunate enough to find my passion at a very young age. No one in my family was a lawyer, but even as a child, I found great satisfaction in advocating for those who could not advocate for themselves. For a while, I followed the status quo – I worked hard in law school, passed the bar exam, landed a great job working at a prestigious international law firm and was earning a handsome salary.

On paper, I had checked all the boxes. But something was still missing. While my corporate clients were getting their legal needs met, I felt there was a sense of personal connection lacking in my career. There was something about representing the “little guy” that appealed to me in a way that no level of prestige or dollar figure could. So I took a large leap of faith and started Miracle Mile Law Group, where I now fight for employees who have been discriminated against, harassed or otherwise mistreated in the workplace.

Since doing so, I no longer feel that my career is missing the motivation that was once lacking. Every day, I get to actually see the value in the work that I do. I get to know my clients, I get to know their families, I get to share their ups and downs, and I get to be invested in their personal lives. I am fortunate and humbled to be where I am. Because at the end of the day, people just need someone to stick up for them. That’s what we do.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with starting any business, there are always ups and downs. As a freshly-minted law firm, I think one of our biggest struggles early on was establishing a name for ourselves and earning the trust of potential clients. For most people, a job is a person’s livelihood, so it needs to be in the right hands. Fortunately, my partner Steven and I are very personable and have always fostered a natural ability to connect well with others. When you connect with people on that level, it gives you the opportunity to impart not only your wisdom and expertise but a level of empathy that paves the way for people to instill trust in you.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Miracle Mile Law Group – what should we know?
We are a group of employment attorneys dedicated to fighting for employees who have been mistreated in the workplace. Our practice ranges from all types of employment disputes, including wrongful termination, sexual harassment, discrimination, whistleblower retaliation and many more. We love this area of law because it is so relatable. At some point or another, everyone has had a boss who may have treated them unfairly, or a not-so-pleasant work environment, or simply a frustrating incident in the workplace that really stuck out. Our practice allows us to hear each person’s unique story and fight for them like they are family.

We believe the relationship between client and attorney is an intimate one and requires substantial personal attention. At Miracle Mile Law Group, we pride ourselves on being responsive and always accessible to our clients when they need us. Our clients are the ones who have faced adversity and were courageous enough to speak up. Where our purpose lies is in providing a platform for them to be heard.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Resiliency. Owning a law firm (or any new business for that matter) often feels like you’re on a roller coaster. Some weeks are full of wins, and other weeks, it seems like the sky is falling. I think what has been vital to our success is our ability to ride the waves and not let the lows get us too down. We learned early on to just power through and this skill has served us pretty well so far.
