Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Krokowicz and Sacha Laloum.
Julie and Sacha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We decided to create Himalayan Blue when we started gaining awareness of the environmental situation. Plastic is taking over our ocean, which is our main oxygen supply, as well as the landfills, creating an accumulation that takes literally hundreds to thousands of years to decompose.
We started dreading going to the supermarket, as the amount of plastic containers on the shelves is alarming. There’s a very little amount of eco-friendly, responsible products being made and we believe it’s about time we start taking things seriously.
Every year, in North America only, over a billion plastic toothbrushes end up in landfills and each plastic toothbrush will take approximately 400 years to decompose. Also, a big percentage of these toothbrushes will later end up polluting our ocean contributing to the destruction of the marine habitat.
Unlike plastic, bamboo is currently one of the best sustainable resources available. It owns the Guinness Record for the fastest-growing plant in the World! And because it is so easy to grow, pesticides and chemicals and barely ever needed. It is also naturally antibacterial, completely biodegradable, kind to the ocean, zero waste friendly and lightweight.
Himalayan Blue is about reconnecting with Nature and for people who wish to help the planet with their daily choices. Bamboo is currently one of the best sustainable resources available.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all. The main struggle was finding a supplier that cares about detail and quality as much as we do. We didn’t want just to copy what everybody else is doing. We believe quality and design are crucial if we want people to switch to eco-friendly versions of the products that they’ve grown accustomed to.
Also, learning how to work online and understanding the e-commerce World has been a whole challenge on its own. Regardless, it’s been a fun and rewarding journey, and we have met many extraordinary people along the way.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Himalayan Blue – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We make sustainable products that are not only high-quality, antibacterial but also well designed – creating the perfect alternative to plastic.
What we’re most proud of is to see that people really enjoy our products and come back for more.
I think what differentiates us is our attention to detail, quality, trustworthiness and of course our warm customer service. Our goal is to make every single one of our customers happy.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love LA. We love its diversity, its opportunities, the landscape, and its magic. To be honest, there is nothing that we don’t love about LA.
